the two lots of 6 doesn't work at all for me. One fighter could win his in the first round, the other could be in a 6 round grueller and have to fight again 15 minutes later; would be a complete mismatch. It happens as it is with the 3 rounders of prize fighter, would be even more pronounced with longer fights.

Other than McEwan, those are the type of fighters that should be in Prizefighter. When it first started out, the tournament was about the unknown and untested getting that chance to break through on the domestic scene and gain some recognition. That is when I was supportive of it, but I'm the opposite when former/current British, European and 'World' champions are taking part.

I think the kind of fighters that PW is aimed at might struggle to do two 6 rounders back to back. Also, all too often injuries (mainly cuts), picked up from previous rounds are a major factor in the final.

Factor in byes and walkovers and you end up with a tournament that is quite flawed, and not even exciting any more.

I would stick with an 8-man tournament, but have the next round of fights on different dates.

Start with 4 round fights, then 6 rounds and a 10 rounder for the final.

Sounds a bit like the "Super 6" format, which could work in theory but might be a bit trickier to organise regarding contracts and other fights scheduled in outside the tournament.

Totally agree, we don't need our Crolla's etc entering Prizefighter but gives an opportunity to lesser know fighters to get a great pay day and get some recognition.

    I know :patsch

Said something along the lines of he didnt want a potential stoppage loss on a cut to effect his ranking then doesnt fight since.

The idea was to have at least two fights between both semi finals, one an area title or even a brit title or at least 8x3, this would give minimum of an hours recovery possibly more, show would last for three hours.

Has to be 6 rounds maximum as you cant fight more than 12 in a night I would have thought

Or even make it more like that "The Contender" programme that Sugar Ray Leonard and Barry McGuigan made a few years back. But a sky version of course.

Not sure sky would want to give boxing an hour a week for an entertainment show. But the UFC version of it Ultimate Fighter or whatever it is seems to do quite well. Would certainly appeal to the casuals and help 8 or so boxers get some good recognition for old steady eddie.

Herd Larry Ekundayo is in it. Somebody who knows him sais hes sold lots of tikets. I herd he was good and did the best debut ever. Steve hlesworth said it. Ireckon he could win it. Herd mcewan was past it but I used to like him. Last too fights in Scotland herd he was ****. Carslaws fighting tomorrow so doubt hes in it. He could be the one to beat Larry. Curtis Valentine and Nav masoori are good too. Curtis only fights good boys and nav is unbeatin. No way mcewan favrite.
