Bum of the month fights is a big reason why. Also, other than his dancing, Wilder doesn't really have much of a personality. He's not even a clean cut gentleman like figure like Joshua. I was annoyed that Arreola doesn't know what an overhand right is. Wilder looked very susceptible to them.
It's obvious he isn't a draw, he gets what $1.5 million a fight, that's peanuts for a heavyweight title holder. Fact is sports fans know at the moment he's a paper champion, until he proves something beyond being an inside joke in the sport he'll remain ignored by the masses and even then he simply isn't very likable, the whole bomb squad shtick makes me cringe every time.
From Frontpage article: "In front of a hometown crowd of 11,974, Wilder controlled the fight from bell to bell, dropping Arreola in the fourth round, and dominating the battle tested challenger. " The arena has seating capacity for 17,500. So it was almost 33% empty. In his HOME TOWN! :yep:yep
No one wanted to see the BUM squad beat up on a walking corpse, now knock me down with a feather, what a surprise. The WBC might want to consider letting a fighter who can actually sell out a telephone booth be their next champion to replace Wilder, because this whole bum squad black American deal is really not as popular as they had hoped.
