is there another club in the uk like lochend amateur boxing club that poaches all of the champions from other clubs and claim to have turned them into champions? they are getting results but every year they are taking boxers from other clubs!

josh taylor, stephen tiffany, tommy philbin, matty mchale, craig morgan, lewis bensen, ryan mccutcheon, gardner moore, sean eng, aston brown, lewis akinlami.

that is all of the ones i know off the top of my head, for god sake labc why not develop boxers without stealing from all of the clubs around you :good

could there be a worse boxing club for stealing other boxers in the uk?

How do you know they are "poached"? are they offered reward to go and train there? Boxers generally want to train at the club they believe to be the best about or where they feel they are getting the best sparring. When you feel you have learned all you can from a particular coach or club then you look to move on to someone or somewhere you feel you will learn more from. If you are in the East of Scotland then Lochend would be the obvious choice.

yes poaching is the correct term, I'm not saying that they offer money but they do look to get as much champions in their gym as possible from other clubs so they can have the most winners every year. id like terry to come on and deny this as i have spoke with boxers that they have approached using the professional side and the possibilty of trips to los angeles as bait.:good

its easy to have a successful club when you steal other peoples fighters that have worked hard to get them to a certain level then they are offered pie in the sky dreams about being world champions by joining their gym :patsch

Sounds like you have been left bitter by someone leaving you for pastures new. But you sound pretty bitter, twisted and jealous all round with your continual sniping and trying to bring others down.

I agree that some clubs have inflated reputations based on one or two fighters but success breeds success, boxers will always want to train alongside and spar with the best at their weight and will go where the success is.

i think that is a wrong assumption on my posts, i haven't had anyone leave for lochend but know plenty of clubs that have fallen prey to their recruitment drive :good

i also don't continually snipe or put down others, why should i praise person/s when praise isn't needed just because of their opinion. i have my opinion, you have yours and everyone else that posts on here does too, i agree with some disagree with others that is what forums are all about. don't get your knickers in a twist:good

Must be a good gym for so many good boxers to want to train there.

In fairness Josh trained in sheffield the last 3 years before turning and now is based in London, Aston trains with Colin Belshaw.
the other three boys are novices, Tiffany appears imo to have adapted well to the pros
Between paul, john and gary only gary has won a Scottish title for the gym, im sure paul was trained elsewhere when he was british champ (McGuire fife)
And big john thain has talented has he is has been very unlucky to be in such a strong division

i did hear aston had signed with colin but not that he was training with him, strange as he left colin to go train with terry at lochend.

i didn't say they were successful in the pros but you claimed that the gym didn't have any record in the pro game and it clearly does.

Thing is though mate the boxers have a mind of their own and they have people in their ear (dad usually). If they show no loyalty and jump ship when they have success I would suggest their better out the gym. Joining a busy gym has perks but it also has downfalls for example you need to share trainers time. Terry has maybe had similar done with Josh, I see no substance to why Josh would leave terry and go train with Shane McGuigan. Terry is a very good trainer and where Shane prides himself on being able to train and take the toll on the body that holding pads etc required terry also has that and is very fit. Boxing is a very fickle sport and to be honest the fury team are proberly the only ones I have seen show loyalty to Hennessy. Money talks and you know the rest.

Looks like their gym will have a good pro team very soon, even if they have started at different gyms. Like Billy Nelson said Tiffney looks to be well suited to the pros. Some good fights there for Benson - with Easton when the time is right. Hopefully Thain gets a shot at something soon.

What gyms in Scotland have more pros than Lochend? Phoenix?

You can have all the pro you want, titles are what you want in the gym
