whenever I hear Lockett talking it's money money money, he admits he's only in the sport for the money. He also went on about how he's got a property portfolio...why even bring this up?
Guys like this are crap for the sport, he's a WBU turkey and I look forward to him getting banjoed this weekend.

Bad crack, reminds me of Jermain Taylor a bit, dont like it, it gets ya back up for some obscure reason but in all fairness i spose its up to him.

If he dont love the sport and is just in it for cash who am i to neg about it......im still gonna watch it.

The selfish money loving ***** i hope Pavlik beats the love of the sport into his bones......

yeah and on top of that a couple of the Welsh lads on here reckon he walks around town giving it the billy big bollocks routine. I can believe that seeing his boring interviews. Lets hope he gets smashed this weekend.

"I couldn’t really care about the glory, first and foremost it’s about money." (from the timesonline article)

How disappointing. I always thought that Gary Lockett's attitude was a bit too laid back, a bit too respectful, and now I know why. He's simply a businessman who doesn't even like boxing.
Before I knew all this ****, I would have given him a very small chance against Pavlik, now I would say he has virtually no chance whatsoever.

Does Lockett still deserve our support? Sure.....if he wants to pay for it.

I know he's not a trash-talker, but I would have liked to read or hear something from Lockett which suggests he really believes he can win this fight. Instead, on Setanta yesterday, he was saying that watching video of Pavlik getting hurt by a temple shot gives him "a little bit of hope". I think this fight, for him, just represents a bit more financial security. I'm tempted to support Kelly in this. He's got the real fighter's attitude.

Dissapointing to hear him come out with something like that. Nothing wrong with admitting you want to want to make money but to say you couldn't care about the glory is a joke.

yeh, could also be a ploy, make it seem to Pavlik hes only showing up for the cash. Would be very clever, doubt it though.

Even if Lockett is pulling a clever stunt, and Pavlik has fallen for it, it still wouldn't make the slightest bit difference. The difference in class is huge.

It's the the same thing as Joe Calzaghe always used to say in interviews a few years back.

he was still saying before Kessler that that was the fight that would make him financially secure, I think his divorce set him back a fair bit though...

It doesn't surprise me one bit that a WBU title is "worth" more than a British title, any "world title" will get the casual fans out more than a British title.

Hardly inspiring stuff from Lockett though, it sounds like he's resigned to taking his lumps and pocketting the money. I still hope he wins though.

I don't know, but I'd guess in the region of £100k.
