I was rooting for Lockett due to the plucky underdog thing but ive changed my tune.

    Like Pavlik anyway.

    lockett's got no chance.

i was looking at his record the other day and he has just fought nothing remotely comparable to pavlik.

unless he's getting calzaghe kicking his arse in sparring every day. :yep he's getting eaten up here. :patsch

This will be an early night for Pavlik as Lockett will be taking a nap in the Third or fourth round.

I thought the same, until I found out Lockett doesn't even like boxing. With his worrying attitude towards the sport, I reckon he could be all done within the first 3 minutes.

Maybe the class gulf is big. Lots of boxers stated in the past they were mainly/only in it for the money. Chris Eubank is a chap who hated the sport and would tell you this at any opportunity. He could still box though.

Think people are are being way to hard on the guy. He's entitled to take the route that will make his future secure.
So what if he says he prefers rugby? Boxings a dirty business, and at 33 he's probably seen quite alot of it. He's probably disappointed/disillusioned with how his career has turned out.
Don't be hard on the guy, he's only human, hope he does alright against Pavlik.

This the biggest joke of the sanctioning bodies. The only way Lockett should have got a shot at Pavlik is if he was asked to step in as a very last minute replacement, as a favour so the show could still go on.
This fight has been on the cards for ages though, there must be plenty of middleweight contenders wondering what they need to do to get a break like this.

So who's he going to blame for that? He's admitted he was quite happy to take the money and go down the WBU route. I've never even heard him calling anybody out (even at domestic level).
I seriously hope he gets a bit of ambition tonight, if all he is thinking about is the money then he is in serious trouble.

To be fair, any muppet can "call people out"....it doesn't mean **** 99% of the time.

Maybe, but naming possible opponents at least shows some kind of ambition. Statements such as "I'll let my manager decide who I fight next" usually means "I'll fight any old tomato can you want as long as the money keeps coming in".

I regard that as being honest as thats what usually happens, the manager decides the opponents. Calling people out, esp. when you know as a boxing fan the fights are unlikely to happen, just makes the boxer sound like a gobshite a lot of the time.

Yeah, Ricky Hatton is a bit of a gobshite.
