How did Joe escape against other bangers like Lacy? By totally outboxing them with his superior skills, speed and timing.
You think because a guy is more of a KO artist that he automatically wins? Like Trindiad against Hopkins right?

Pavlik would be moving up to fight Calzaghe, against someone who he wont have the same huge reach and height advantage over and where his opponent is used to taking shots of guys 8lbs heavier. And the real question is why on earth any of you think that Pavlik manages to land regular bombs on a guy who is not only FAR faster with FAR more skill and FAR better footwork but also someone who has beaten similar big hitters at higher weights.

 

Calzaghe would give Pavlik boxing lesson 101 classes in the ring

Sure Pavlik have power.....but I can't see him handle Joe's speed at all.

And let's see how he's doing about Taylor the 2nd time around.

 

If Pavlik should fight any in the SMW division it should be Bute, Froch or Mundine). (would give him some idea what it takes....if He wins the Taylor-II fight!!!)

I thinking that it would be a fight similar to Trinidad-Hopkins. I'll let you take a guess on who would be Hopkins and who would be Trinidad.

 

Kessler would smash Pavlik into the middle of next week let alone what JC would do to him. This would be a fairly easy nights work of boxing at a distance and confusing Pavlik with handspeed and ring smarts. I'm amazed that a 10 year unified/undisputed champion can get such little respect. Having seen a few of Pavliks fights he's shown he's vulnerable with an average chin and can be EASILY outboxed.

Calzaghe's chin counters Pavs power, plus he's going up a weight and all this talk of Pavlik and Taylor being bigger is a load of utter crap, Calzaghe is a very big SMW and would wear him down to an easy UD or stop him late with a flurry of unanswered punches. Pavlik beats two decent fighters and all of a sudden people are talking about him like he's the 2nd coming of Christ.

The following would beat Pavlik with relative ease imo:

Calzaghe
Kessler
Hopkins
Lacy (reason I pick Lacy is he has as much if not more power and a chin of absolute iron)

 

i like pavlik,but his huggers are really looking like they're going to outdo any others on these boards for ignorance.some of the comments and assesments of a potential calzaghe fight are so mind blowingly off the mark that i can only assume most of them are 13 and 14 year old.that's apart from re-writing the history of the taylor fight.

Do you know what bigger means, more physical mass as joe fights at 168 he is 8 pounds bigger than pavlik.
