Pavlik is a rather ordinary boxer who has a bat. Kessler is a technically better boxer and has at least as hard a punch. He also has a defense. The idea that Pavlik could move up a weight to KO sameone who has never lost a bout is ambitious to say the least. Someone as open as Pavlik is bread and butter to Calzaghe and he would most likley be humiliated. Pavlik has a lot of heart as he showed when Taylor caught him but he rode his luck in that bout and victory a second time is by no means certain.

In any case Calzaghe is only looking for big money fights in the autumn of his carees and I am not sure this bout would generate enough cash.

It would generate enough BASH, thats why Joe C would never take a fight with KP.

I think it is a better fight than imagined. Pavlik may look slow and not very fluid on his feet but I think he loses a lot of his legs by making the weight. We'll get a good idea in the Taylor rematch. Oh, news alert though, Pavlik just got a bunch of stitches on his hand when he put it through a window he was trying to fix so the Feb. date may have to change. From what I hear, I bunch of little cuts but he is fine. Anyways, Calzaghe gives Pavlik fits but I think Pavliks constant pressure and workrate take there toll as always but I can't really see Pavlik winning a decision against Joe because he is a slick boxer. IT would be a great fight but I don't think it will happen because Pavlik wants to defend his middleweight belts and Calzaghe is supposedly moving up. You never know though, money talks. Pavlik by late round KO as always

This would be a great fight. If only Calzaghe wasn't afraid to leave his home town...

lol - Pavlik is young and has only just won his title.

Calzaghe on the other hand is an established, seasoned professional who's fought in 22 world championship contests and won them all filling 50,000 seats.

So tell me, why does he have to go the States again?

Let's make something abundantly clear: Pavlik has fought above 160 a total of 11 times(not counting 2lbs over). He's fought at 168 twice(actually weighing in at 169). A majority of the fights ended in a 1st or 2nd rd KO. So please mates lets be factual:good Of course this is not A class competition however I think it illustrates Pavlik is more than comfortable with that weight perhaps more powerful, and quicker. Cheers mates:good

    I said bigger, not taller.

Most would agree that Mike Tyson is bigger than Kelly Pavlik.

Mike is around 5 ft 10 in.

David Tua, James Toney and Sam Peter are all BIGGER than Kelly too, even though they are all shorter.

Kelly fights at 160 , Joe has trouble making 168.

    Re: facts.

Maybe you should consider taking your own advice.

Pavlik huggers are the new Danes.
I like KP as he is a good guy and exciting to watch but you guys need to get some perspective here.

There is absolutly no way on this earth that he has any sort of a chance against Calzaghe...none at all.

I would say that Lacy and Kessler hit just as hard as KP if not harder.
They both landed flush on Joe with great punches and Joe never flinched.

The amount of rounds that Kessler lost before he faced Calzaghe could be counted on one paw and Calzaghe just nullified him.

Calzaghe would **** up Pavliks career I would say that Kessler would as well.
Lacey v Pavlik is the fight that I would love to see.
