Heaven forbid somebody go in there to fight using their physical assets.

Kelly is going to need to tinker with some things here and there. I don't think he is going to be able to impose his will on top flight opponents anymore at any weight class. Jack or whoever the trainer is will need to give him some kind of defense. If he keeps getting into slugfests at MW (like the Miranda or Zertuche fight) his career isn't going to last much longer. I'm afraid that a fight with AA @ 160 right now will not help his cause. Learn some defensive techniques, work on the footwork, Fight Rubio, get your confidence back, fight the WBO mandatory or Duddy, then fight AA. Learn as much as you can at 160 (4 or 5 more fights) before it is too late because you will be fighting for your life at 168.

Kelly needs to fire Jack Leow, and if he is not smart enough to realize that, he will NEVER reach is true potential. In my opinion Kelly will always have trouble with slick boxers, but any serious fan can easily come up with a list of very successful fighters who had trouble with slick boxers, and still managed to beat some of them.

Cameron Dunkin tried to get rid of Leow from day one. After the way Kelly's corner just totally ****ing melted down last night, maybe KP will wise up.

He's like an ignorant mom or wife that leeches off the money cow. I hope KP learns and knows how what's best for him in the sense of business, he can still maintain a strong relationship with Loew just as long as he knows where each stands and respect their positions.

Movement, defense, angles: Pavlik has a Lot of things to work on if he wants to compete against the absolute elite fighters. He will need a top trainer to accomplish that. imho. Emmanuel Steward?

Would you have asked Kelly to let his hands go and risk getting KO'd during the last 1/3rd of the fight? I don't remember Jack saying anything to Kelly after the 6th or 7th round. I think Kelly was just on auto-pilot the whole fight. Double jab aint gonna do it against the slyest fox of them all. It's sad because they basically pulled a Manny Steward/JT (during the first KP/JT fight) saying they would KO X, I think it was a sign of weakness.

The fight should have never been made but maybe it was a blessing in disguise because who knows what the outcome of a Joe C/KP fight would have been at this point in their careers.

Great comments. People forget Pavlik moved up in weight to fight an all time legend, not some 32-15 light heavy. He belongs at MW. His team became a little arrogant. He had no real game plan after Plan A failed. And Hopkins put on a great performance. I think he can still handle pretty much anyone at MW. Abraham and Wright would be two great fights. Here's hoping Kelly takes a few fights in between though. To jump in the ring with AA or Wright now would be crazy. Then again, so was fighting Hopkins.

Steward would be my first choice because of his sucess with tall - rangy fighters, and his many years of elite level experience. He offered to train Pavlik for the Taylor rematch, but KP wouldn't hear of it.

I think Jack Leow did good with Kelly up to the Taylor rematch. In that fight he did the same **** he did last night; he pushed Kelly to keep trying to do the things that were not working. He had no idea how to coach his fighter to do something that WOULD work. In my opinion Kelly is now at a level in boxing where Jack is a liability rather than an asset.

Hopkins has always been one of my favorite fighters but lately I've been thinking that I've been wasting my money buying his fights on PPV. With that being said, last night was worth every penny (this coming from a KP fan for years and years) if you like boxing you should be able to appreciate a master at work. Kelly could realistically have 10-15 or so fights left in him and has a wonderful career ahead. They need to realize making this fight and cashing in their chips at this point was a bad idea and quickly get back to work.

Good decision, Pav needs a size advantage to be most effective.
