So what Arum is saying is that in Las Vegas, with a split bigger on Khan's favor, the cards would have been in Khan's favor? So in a 60-40 they won't give the win to Peterson because the Casinos will lose? So what was it for the Pac vs Marquez 3 fight wasn't something like 90-10?

 

If Khan was anywhere near as good as he claimed he is the fight wouldn't even be close. He spent the majority of the fight RUNNING from Lamont Peterson and took the heavier blows. Irrelevant where the fight is.

 

GBP has taken alot more risks with their fighter than TR so i respect them for that.

 

i look at it the other way, gbp don't really know how to guide/protect/build up their fighters for maximum earning potential. gbp don't seem to look out for their fighter's best interest.

...but props to gbp for making some exciting fight like the one tonight.

 

So you would rather see unevenly match ups? TR had the opportunity to make Gamboa/Lopez and never did and never will because TR is waiting for it to grow big which never will! Gamboa has no fan base and Lopez is not that good, well atleast for Gamboa. Its fights like that, that TR would never give you but GBP will. I, as a boxing fan, would rather see the best fight each other than have a ****ing promoter ruin my favorite sport for his own personal agenda!

 

So we should change the boxing system and not have a ranking system where ideally there is a champ per division? :dead

 

What I don't get is Peterson rejected a deal to fight Khan in the UK. So why the hell did Khan bend over and let Peterson have the fight in DC? Surely it could've attracted a crowd somewhere else, like Vegas or Atlantic City. I understand Khan is not massive in the US, but he's an up and coming star and there should be some interest in seeing him. Didn't his fights with Maidana and Judah do well?

 

Maybe for now, but GBP is still the next biggest promotion company, at least in the US, not sure how it compares to Sauerland and some of the international promotion companies. Anyhow Top Rank probably won't last much longer because Arum is pretty old, I dunno if his successors will be able to keep up. GBP has enough moneys and stars to take the risk and see if new models work. I like this model of the best fighting the best much better.

 

Bob only knows how to avoid taking chances and making compelling matches. This was a foty in a thin year - that's what I want to see as a fan, not some protected hype-job beating can after can after can.

 

Don't think they expected such a tough fight.. Also, Khan seemed like he wasn't expecting Peterson to have the home crowd advantage. Not sure why..

Lamont won because he fought his heart out. He came to knock Khan head off and he wasn't going to leave it to the hands of the judges. He wasn't going to run like coward Mosley.

 

So all the *******s like Arum's style of protecting his fighters and everyone else doesn't. What a surprise!

uneven matchups happens when they're building up a fighter, I have no crticism of how GBP is bringing Canelo along or how they matched Kirkland against Ishida.

....and i agree that Arum f**ked up on the Gamboa-JML but you could also imagine how big of a fight it would have been had Lopez won. It would have made both a lot of money....and that was a risky fight for Lopez, Salido fought Gamboa hard and Salido also beat Guerrero.

My point with my previous post was TR seems to look out for their fighters best interest compared to GBP.
