He took a calculated decision that Murray couldn't hurt him and let his hands down to lure him in.

Exactly. Also, when GGG was in his chest, he sometimes "threw" tapping punches just so that Murray would open up, and GGG could counter.

GTFOOH you schmuck. Murray was an incredibly ready and determined top 10 fighter who showed immense heart and resilience.
I agree Ward wins the fight but no easy task. It’s funny how GGG is supposed to move up to 168 but I don’t hear Wards bf’s telling him to move to 175 and fight Kov. Bit of a double standard going on. No knock on Ward. He is the best @168 but where is the talk of him moving down to a catchweight or moving up to 175? GGG is not unbeatable but give the man his due respect.

Ward can't punch. He can clinch, that we all know, but he can't hurt anything with his punch.

By the way, GGG is P4P, not Ward.

He had more than adequate enough defense.

It's pretty clear he had no respect for Murray's power from the opening bell. He stayed outside of Murray's power range and allowed him to get in a few pitty pat punches in close.

His shoulder blocked and parried most of Murray's power shots. He barely got hit throughout the fight. In the other hand, Martinez got knocked down by the same fighter.

If Murray could tag him so often, why didn't Stevens ?

That's because GGG wouldn't allow him.

    It's called boxing IQ.

Its pretty funny seeing people post who have no idea what they are looking at.

Murray had some success early, basically fighting like Ward would. Put his head down, bull rushed and clinched. Golovkin responded like I said he would, lower his center of gravity, getting his head below his opponents in the clinch - taking steps and half steps back to create space and throwing under - and steering his head when he ducked too low.

Fight actually showed just how Golovkin would beat Ward. Wards duck, rush and clinch strategy not going to be effective for very long when they meet in the ring.

It's actually really good and bad at the same time

GGG actually slips 90% of the punches the idiot commentators say he took

Which is better than any other come forward boxer I've ever seen
But 168 if a whole different level

Froch is a brute with power

Ward is the best boxer in the world by far

Ward is strong as an ox, hits harder than it looks
    Can destroy you the inside

The other point is they faught in a telephone box tonight

Ward picks the biggest ring and that's a totally different fight

Seriously how small was that ring

I wouldn't say Murray was hitting GGG at will, but he did connect with a bit more frequency than some other opponents. That said, GGG rolled or partially deflected a lot of Martin's incoming.

The Chavez comparison is apt, I think. J Superstar had underrated D, and so does GGG.

Would be interesting to see how Ward reacts to GGG's savage power. Ward doesn't have an Iron Chin. Far from it actually.

Ward could very well outbox GGG.

I wouldn't call Martin Murray a bum. The dude has fought three of the best middleweights over the last 7 years and fought admirably.
