Kimbo showed a couple of new moves on the ground throughout the first two rounds, but was pretty much getting owned on the matt. Whenever there was standup he was landing solid shots and really hurting Thompson. In the third round he landed 4 hard shots on Thompson (who was still standing) and the fight was stopped. Kimbo got lucky
was he visibly hurt at anytime? i think that the success of elitexc depends on how they market kimbo. this does not sound that good for the company
If Kimbo couldn't do anything against Thompson on the ground who showed very little skill while on top, if he had a skilled guy on the ground it would be over. Gary Shaw won't let him fight a good ground fighter....I can guarantee that.
Very entertaining fight. I thought Thompson would get KOed pretty fast, considering that he has a weak chin. But man, he stayed there and would beat Kimbo if it had not been for the stoppage. I love how the ref tried to get them up on their feet any time he could. And how he quickly stopped the fight. I knew Kimbo sucked. But my god, does he suck.
Thompson was shaken on a few occasions by Kimbo's shots, and he definitely was stunned when the fight was stopped, but it was pretty bull**** because he was still standing and coherent. Should have at least been allowed to go on a couple more seconds to see if he was going to respond to Kimbo's 4 shots landed imo. Keep in mind that he wasn't against the cage either (trapped), he had some distance. Pretty bad stoppage imo
