Margarito took a number of rounds to finally stop Cotto the first time. He wasn't doing it in one round for the rematch against a much fresher, more confident Cotto. This has become one of those oft repeated myths that Margarito was going to stop Cotto again.

Except that it wasn't. Marg has his best round near the end (not saying much) but Cotto wasn't hurt anywhere near as much as he was in the first fight (wonder why?) and he was fighting at a deliberate enough pace that he would have won the decision. I can't figure out why Margarito's performances went downhill so quickly after he was caught loading his gloves? Probably just a coincidence.
