Imagine if Floyd had fought and boxed the hell out of him. People would have so much more respect for Floyd. It would've been semi-easy work for Floyd and because back then people were so high on Paul, it would've made Floyd look like an even bigger boxing genius. It's not necessarily about fighting a guy with a HOF resume. It's about fighting whomever is considered dangerous and has potential to be so much more. Timing is key. At one point Paul was one of the best at 147; you can't say the best shouldn't fight the best. But it doesn't matter. Even if Floyd knew he could have beaten Paul at the time, they were never going to fight since they're both linked to Haymon.

:yep I got to be honest. Williams was a legit opponent. Yes he was flawed, but nobody could exploit it or new how really.

I've always said PW was a KO waiting to happen, this is not revisionist, his defense is absolutely terrible, I told Walk With Me in 09 that SSM at age 37/38 could KO him because he is ridiculously easy to hit, everybody's response "Paul has a granite chin. With the exception of the Wink fight ( Wink was 38, out of shape & semi-retired) I have never seen him in with some one who was NOT able to load up and land any shot they wanted. Mitchell, Phillips, Qiuntana, Martinez and now Lara.

Honestly Mayweather would've really given Williams a very bad beating, and likely stopped him late. You just can't fight the way Williams does and expect to even compete with the elite.

Quintana had already exposed him after the Margo fight. A little bit of movement is all that is needed, you really can't miss PW's head.

Williams was always a overrated clown. People like fighters who get a lot because its entertaining and it makes for a good fight, but in terms of skill, Williams is awful and was never even close to being an elite fighter. The highlight of career was beating another guy who blocked punches with his face in Margarito.

Look at these *****S trying to justify Floyd's duck of PWill years ago when he was still not damaged. Ey *****, PWill is not the same after Sergio raped him but 3 years ago he would've given Floyd hell :deal:deal:deal

Williams was considered a top fighter, and the most feared fighter at 147 (the hype), and faced a who's who of other good WW's. He would've, deservedly, been a top choice for Floyd, as a legacy shaping fight (probably not a big PPV event though) at WW...pre Martinez. But, he has never been on Floyd's level, from a technical standpoint. I can certainly agree with that.

No its not a problem, Williams would've been tough for Cotto, but any elite fighter that fights smart can pick him apart.
