It's ridiculous that the notice is so short, but if the choice is between this and nothing (or Yildirim) this is better.

Nothing to lose for Smith I would say, and he gets his Canelo payday.

So Ridiculous that Canelo also has the same amount of time. So ridiculous that many fighters throughout history take fights with weeks notices.

There are exceptions. But 8-10 is the norm. 3 is a joke like your life.

Didn't you make a thread about Pacquiao fighting Ledwaba with 14 days notice?

Nope. And that's a stupid comparison. Pacquiao was literally a nobody when he took that fight.

    Short notice isn't ideal.

But it's the two of the best SMW fighters in the world against each other. Both have the same time to prepare.

If Canelo beats Smith he's number 1 SMW easy.

its not elitist, its reality. you either know more than someone who has studied more, or you dont. you cant just say whatever you want even if it dont make sense, then call someone elitist cause they tell you you dont know all that is involved. i asked what you know about the situation, cause perhaps you know something im not aware of. so far, its that its not ideal. ok, i agree, but when is it ever ideal? you say its canelos old tricks. ok, who is being forced to fight him? ive seen guys turn down the fight before cause it wasnt ideal, so whats stopping smith or plant or whoever from doing that? how about you get all these guys to send canelo a message about his old tricks by not fighting him.
ive never given canelo a pass for his bull****, but im not going to pretend his success is all due to a cw or rehydration clause like so many love to do. i understand boxing a bit better. if you aint ready to fight him, for whatever reason, dont take the fight. aint nobody starving without canelo. but if you do take the fight, take it cause youre ready and believe you can win. like professional fighters do.

So theoretically if he would have turned it down, Canelo would have hurt himself and would be disadvantaged for the guy who does eventually accept it?
