Stay ready so you dont have to get ready, these are high paid pros, its enough time if hes been living that life. Also he would of been in the running with negotiations a while back.

Agreed. No way he has only had 3 weeks notice Smith is a big super middle and I doubt he could make 168 in 3 weeks. It's a good fight some people will find anything to complain about.

Sorry, that **** doesn't fly. The norm is 8-10 weeks. Name me some big fights where 2 fighters willingly agreed to less than an 8 week training camp w/ a wide open schedule.

8-10 weeks is the norm in the modern era of boxing. Are you new to boxing?

Damn, you're really having a difficult time coping with this aren't you? It'll be okay. Canelo will be a four division champion, then fight a cruiser against a shot fighter for a title ala Pac with Margarito and will be the first five division Champion in 10 years.

Smith has been training, for you to think otherwise shows you are naive.

It's an ongoing discussion in a thread. Just admit that 3 weeks isn't ideal because it's not. And with three boxers already pointing out that it's a strategic A-side move by Clenelo that puts the other guy at a disadvantage, you really can't make an argument.

He's probably been in the gym like most fighters. But the standard is still 8-10 weeks, not 3 weeks, even with guys that stay active in the gym. It's not rocket science. Callum wants that check and he'll have 3 weeks to get ready.

No one is putting a gun to Smith's head right? He is also not in Jepordy of losing his title for refusing Canelo right?

So if Smith feel he's ready, then it doesn't matter that three fighters think Canelo is trying to get an advantage, right?

Disagree, Smith would need more than 3 weeks to make weight so I doubt that he would take the fight if he wasn't ready.

Smith is gettin' that check. Never said he was forced to take the fight, but also doesn't change the fact that he's not being given a normal training camp. 8-10 is the norm. This isn't debatable. There's no gray area.

Money talks. He's selling out his 0 by taking this fight on very short notice.

Smith has been in the gym training with the hope of maybe getting out again in December and he knew in the back of his mind there was a chance he might be facing Clenelo. However, he didn't know for sure and therefore he couldn't get locked in and you need to get locked in when stepping up to the elite level because when you're not locked in you can't produce that extra 20-30% that a fighter who is locked in can. Clenelo has been locked in for a couple of months now even though he doesn't need to be locked in for an opponent below elite level because he's already at the elite level himself.

Also Smith's only chance of winning the fight is via KO and he would need at least 8-12 weeks of being completely locked in to prepare his mind and body to be in the kind of shape it would need for him to even stand a chance of being able to achieve that because Clenelo has the safety net in place of knowing that the judges are going to be totally locked in on making sure that there's no way he loses the fight on their cards. The ref will be totally locked in on doing their best to ensure Clenelo gets his hand raised too.

    2020 Smith with 4-5 weeks > 2010 Margarito at 150

You didn't ***** like a woman about that fight did you?

The issue I have is that Smith needs to make an international flight and he'll lose a couple days traveling plus a couple days to jet lag.
That tips the scales unfairly to Canelo.
