    Pacquiao was in his prime and it was the toughest and most grueling fight of his career. He weighed in at 144 and rehydrated to 148. Margarito was in monster form and was 165 pounds on fight night good for a 17 pound functional weight advantage. He was in the best shape of his life.

    "I was so lucky to survive that fight."

    Margarito took Pacquiao's prime.

    Name me 1 fighter who weighs 148 on fight night that would have beaten Margarito that night. For reference, Linares, Campbell, Bogere, and Fortuna — all lightweights, are over 150 pounds on fight night.

    Pacquiao-Margarito was announced in July for a fight in November. Margarito had plenty of time to make the weight and enjoyed a FULL training camp.

    he needs to get to tx at least a week before fight night. his body will adjust to the time difference by then. theres plenty pro gyms in dallas and san antonio.
    there is nothing special you can work on to prep for canelo, you either box in the same league or you dont. he makes no obvious mistakes and hes good enough to make adjustments on the fly, as ggg found out.
    what these guys think he needs 8 weeks to work on to prepare, i dont know. i guarantee they dont either. your jab is either good enough to keep him at bay, or it aint. kovalev found out his wasnt.

    I don't think Canelo could have scheduled this fight until now, because he had to wait until his previous contract with DAZN was cancelled, then he needed to re-negotiate with DAZN for a one-fight deal before he could make an announcement that he's fighting Smith.

    I know right, if Smith is not happy with the time he has to get ready he could just turn the fight down. All these people getting upset on his behalf when he is probably fine with it. He is ranked number one in the division so he probably has not been sitting around eating pies and chips watching Netflix while lying on the couch.
