Pacquiao has come up three weight divisions this year to meet De La Hoya. De La Hoya is coming down one weight division. 1995 DLH 135lbs Pac 108lbs Differential 27lbs 1998 DLH 147lbs Pac 113lbs Diff 34lbs 2002 DLH 154lbs Pac 121lbs Diff 33lbs 2004 DLH 158lbs Pac 125lbs Diff 33lbs 2008 DLH 150lbs Pac 132lbs Diff 18lbs 2008 DLH 147lbs Pac 147lbs. Dec 6, MGM Grand, Las Vegas, the fighters meet at welterweight.
Yeah, but you didn't compare age/weight difference. At 17, Floyd Mayweather was an (amateur) flyweight just as PacMan. Yet years later, he faced DLH at 154. At 17, DLH was a FW at the amateurs, yet he fought Sturm and Hopkins (prime fighters) at 160. PacMan also was a WW fight night in both of his fights this year, and just a few pounds south of Floyd Mayweather's WW fight night weighs. Now what?
Nice. BTW, I remember a couple of Pac's old video interviews from way back in the late 90's-early 2000's where he says that he personally does not like to watch his own style of fighting, he said it looks ugly and rough. He said that Oscar Dela Hoya's one of his favorite fighters and he said that Oscar's fighting style was beautiful and he wanted to be more like Oscar when he fights.
I wouldn't use Pac-mans starting weight of 108 as a reference point as he was only 16 and for example Tommy Hearns weighed only 110 when he was 16 but by the same age Pacman is now was fighting at super middleweight.
