i wouldnt go so far to say that Jones would win beyond a doubt, i can see him loosing this fight. . but Slappy really thinks hes going to KNOCK HIM OUT????? :rofl what hell is he going to do? slap him until jones passes out from laughing his ass off ?????
Joe has only ever knocked out two opponents his whole career - and they were KO's against shockingly bad opposition. I can easily see a TKO though. Having said that Roy Jones chin has been shocking of late. Johnson didn't just knock him out he sent him to sleep.
Agree with the title of the thread. I wish people would shut this crap up about Jones and his chin. Tarver is a hard puncher and Glen Johnson's agression was just a huge problem for Roy. The difference is that "SLAPPY" wished he "slapped" as hard as either. Jones was last rocked in December of '05. Calzaghe is the one who saw the canvas 6 months ago and almost saw it again at the end of the 7th. So suddenly he's just going to knockout Jones because his workrate is just so outstanding??? Say what you want about Jones, he's no Manfredo, Jeff No Hook Lacy or flat footed whats his name?? Kessler thats it.
Calzaghe's power is underrated, last I remember people were saying the exact same and even worse about him possibly hurting Lacy who has an iron chin yet it was Lacy wobbly in the very first round.
Bad comparison. Defense isn't in Jeff lacy's vocabulary not to mention he's yet another flat footed fighter. I guess again you all truly believe Roy is just a totally shot fighter huh?? I mean come on, Joe looks damn good against this guys that have to set on their punches. The only reason Hopkins didn't convincingly win against Joe IMO is that he didn't commit to throwing in combination's. But we CLEARLY saw (even you guys across the Atlantic) who landed the more convincing blows. Roy has faster hands than Hopkins, DOESN'T fight flat footed and throws in combinations (when he's on his game as in the Trinidad and Hanshaw fights). So this will be a much harder test for Joe.
Well, I wouldn't be shocked if Calzaghe were to win by TKO, but KO is something that I don't see happening. I'm not saying it's impossible , but very unlikely imo.
That is a great point, Scar. He did shake Lacy pretty good. You'd think it'd be harder with Roy (because you have to worry about Roy hitting you back with very fast punches), but who knows? The Johnson KO of Jones is alarming. It's like hitting a brick wall at 60 mph out of nowhere.
While I don't see an outright "KO" as likely, it's not out of the question. This coming from an admitted Calzaghe basher. I'm a big fan of RJJ and I'll be pulling for him big time. If he wins, I'll probably cry tears of joy. But I wouldn't be surprised to see him get slapped silly to the tune of a late round TKO. Til then I'll pray..."please God, restore a small portion of Roy Jones Jrs god given abilities. Please enable him to turn back the clock and show this overrated hypemachine no talent assclown what a world class fighter is supposed to be". Lord hear our prayers.
