just watched the fight, chavez didn't look that great, he brawled and got hit ALOT, alot of the times he abandoned the gameplan and just brawled, only after 8 or 9 rounds did he start to take complete control but he still got hit too much.

    not impressed.

    Busy, entertaining scrap.

Good watch while lazing around at home, on a Sunday brunchtime.

Don't really care if they've improved or not.

The current '10 boxing schedule is in the crapper pretty deep down this summer...... I see little of interest to me over the horizon....... Gimmie "Adamek-Grant" in August..... But I bet it gets zero airplay in the States......

look at the front page cupcakes

people claiming chavez jr must be on peds because he looked like superman

dude was completely spent after 10 rounds, the commentators even mentioned how freddie isn't gonna be happy with that kind of performance.

I think I heard the commentators (local) said that Jr. only trained at Wildcaard for only 4 weeks, and not the regular 6 to 8 weeks that that gym usually likes to have.

I was impressed thats for sure

One has to consider where are you setting the bar for a fighter, in order to come away not impressed or impressed. Just two days ago people were calling him a bum. Chavez proved IMO that hes no bum, and also showed he can fight on a level that myself at least didnt think he was capable of fighting at, he showed some subtle things that if he continues to improve upon he can be a fighter to be reckoned with. I havnt seen anyone claiming he was great, but he was an improvement upon the Jr i knew. I think it was a good performence.

Yes, it was only 4 or 5 weeks. Although he has a lot of improvement to do yet, I think he looked much better than in previous fights. Was an entertaining scrap.

My father kept screaming at Jr., yesterday.

"Stop crowding him, you idiot. You're stifling your own punches."

I agree. I thought he has been terrible in past fights. He was much better in this fight. I was impressed with him, and really impressed with all punches Duddy takes. That was quite brutal.

    I disagree, Relentless.

Chavez Jr was not guilty of simply "brawling" as you like to put it. For the opening three rounds he was utilizing good movement and practically hitting Duddy with every single shot he let fly with. Duddy's defense was among the worst I've ever seen, but Chavez still deserves credit for displaying a wide variety of punches. He had a good uppercut inside, his jab was very effective, and he throwing nice punches to the body also. To render his performance as one dimensional brawling is to be stupid. He was picking his shots nicely, and as I say, landing whenever he wanted too.

I also maintain that Chavez Jr showed an improved defense, and wasn't getting hit as cleanly as you would have us all believe. He was catching a lot of the shots on his gloves, and with the soul exception of one scary moment, had things pretty much all his own way. At the end of the day, Chavez produced his most effective and efficient performance against the best opponent of his career thus far. Let's be positive?

A lot of Duddy's punches didn't land very cleanly. I felt the commentators made it seems closer all night than the fight actually was.
