In terms of talent - he's a TOP 25 ATG. Strong resume, but not a resume which matches his talent and he therefore isn't a top 25 ATG on that basis.
Idk about the major challenge argument cuz Margo wasn't a major figure in boxing when he called out Floyd....by the time the fight was legitimate.. Margo lost to Williams... Then he beats cotto.....Floyd retires...margo gets koed by mostly...Floyd comes back n fights the no1 welterweight in Shane mostly... Manny hasn't fought a number 2 or 3 welter since campaigning there so he can't count.....n floyd called out cotto but arum said he was too green... So rehash ur argument
if tyson wouldve ducked buster douglas .. we wouldnt have been talking about tyson ducking the dangerous buster douglas ... buster was 42-1 underdog for a reason
Who in this era matches his talent....that he has yet to fight.... People say this all the time? But never name anyone...and don't say manny cuz all he matches with floyd is recent success...
Floyd is not top 25 ATG, but he has a place in my top 40 because of his skills. ONLY cause of his skills
Most all time greats are judged on skills, as well as wins n losses...but mostly who u beat.....but I'm sure ur top 25 has losses to people most would consider lesser opponents.... My point is this ranking **** is kinda dumb.... Bottom line is that Floyd is one of the best to do this sport ever....
That's fine but I don't think any modern fighter will ever crack the top 30 honestly.... Those guys fought way too many people....going 40 and 0 back in the day wasn't special.....cats were going 80 fights without losses despite the fact that every bum on the street was boxing then so many of the wins were over virtual nobodies......
Floyd's definitely not top 25. No active fighter is. Floyd is one of the better skilled fighters I've ever seen (not quite in that very top elite class), but his resume is too thin for top 25 status. Boxing is one of the deepest sports historically. No shame in not being top 25.
This is the list the IBRO has as of 2006, it's a bit dated, but it's still a pretty relevant list. 1. Sugar Ray Robinson 2. Harry Greb 3. Henry Armstrong 4. Muhammad Ali 5. Joe Louis 6. Sam Langford 7. Roberto Duran 8. Benny Leonard 9. Willie Pep 10. Bob Fitzsimmons 11. Joe Gans 12. Ezzard Charles 13. Sugar Ray Leonard 14. Jimmy Wilde 15. Eder Jofre 16. Mickey Walker 17. Archie Moore 18. Jack Dempsey 19. Jack Johnson 20. Gene Tunney 21.Stanley Ketchel 22. Barbados Joe Walcott 23. Rocky Marciano 24. Tony Canzoneri 25. Barney Ross 26. Ike Williams 27. George Dixon 28.Sandy Saddler 29. Roy Jones Jr. 30. Larry Holmes. In terms of Pac and Mayweather, first of all I'd rank Pac ahead of Mayweather, and in terms of who would beat who in their primes, rather than whether they stand on the ATG list, I think a prime Delahoya would beat them both. If both were to retire tomorrow, would they crack the list?. Well considering Marvin Hagler, Monzon, Hopkins, Chavez, Whitaker and a host of other great fighters didn't make the cut, it's a tall order to suggest either one of them would, but personally I can see Pac making the list somewhere between 20-30 and Mayweather would have to beat Pac convincingly to even have a chance of cracking the list.
