Canelo is an amazing champion but alot of it is smoke and mirrors and heavy stacking the deck in his favour. Oscar gave him insane protection, Vegas looked after him because he brought a lot of money to casinos and DAZN is protecting him too. However, there's a point where your luck runs out and if he fights Beterbiev, his luck AND his health would be in jeopardy
In boxing it's hard to know anything for sure. You might think Canelo hasn't a chance, but until it happens we'll never know for sure. Definitely a fight I wanna see down the road. But he's gotta deal with GGG first which won't be easy. If Canelo is successful against GGG, and if Bivol Beterbiev doesn't happen, I personally would rather him fight Artur next year than a Bivol rematch, simply because it's a more dangerous fight and there's more to gain. What's the point of fighting Bivol again before Bivol fights Beterbiev? I personally don't see the point in Canelo Bivol 2 before Bivol fights Beterbiev. And if Bob blocks that then the only way we'll ever see Undisputed at LWH is if Canelo beats Artur then fights Bivol for Undisputed.
Artur is far easier to hit than Bivol. Canelo could target that body, land looping shots on Artur, and he's a bigger puncher than Bivol.
Beterviev would really retire canelo. Canelo is too tough for his own good. Beterbiev would beat him down over 12. Beterbiev is an atg at lhw and an absolute savage with atg power. It's not a good fight for canelo
I don't even want to see the fight. Canelo should not be fighting at 175. Taking punches from Beterbiev can have real life effects on a smaller fighter and there's no need for it. The two don't belong in the same ring. Canelo should stay at 168 and Biev should focus on 75.
You might be right, but I do think Canelo presents challenges, particularly if he targets the body early. Could Canelo get beat up? Very possible. But Canelo is very experienced, durable, is a good counter puncher, has a hell of a chin. What I wonder about a potential Canelo Beterbiev fight down the road is could the loss to Bivol actually help Canelo prepare better if he goes up to 175 again? He knows he can't gas like that against Beterbiev. Against Bivol he was overconfident, he got complacent. I think Canelo sort of got humbled and fell back to earth a little bit. Only time will tell to see if Canelo learns his lesson and makes adjustments if he fights at 175 again. Losing to Bivol how he did could serve as a sort of preparation for Beterbiev, to better manage the weight, to be in better shape, to sense the danger and be ready for it. Obviously Beterbiev is on top of the world right now and Canelo's coming off a loss. Of course everyone's gonna pick Artur to destroy Canelo, but if the fight happens, I think it's a good test for Beterbiev. I do think Canelo can give him problems, but it could also be a disaster for Canelo. It also depends when the fight happens, if it's for Undisputed, how he does vs GGG, if he fights Bivol again first. There's a lot of factors that go into how it could play out. I'm just saying it's an interesting fight. I'm not picking Canelo or anything, but I would like to see how they matchup in the ring.
Canelo is physically very strong for middleweight and super mw. That is a big part of his game plus his agility and upper body movement. At light heavy he losses his advantage in physical strength. The guys were he has problems are physically very strong like ggg or bivol. Beterbiev is on another level in physical strength, imo he is a real 200 pounder, but fights at lhw because of the money. Canelo could give beterbiev fits with his upper body movement and handspeed, but canelos stamina is not elite and never was, and he can't train it, besides doping. Imo to beat beterbiev you need to fight like gvozdyk and bivol and try only to fight long with fast is and outs and hope you will not get cornered from beterbiev. This can work for 6 rounds, but no one can run and hide for 12 rounds, especially if beterbiev has great stamina and he has. To beat beterbiev you need to bomb him out in a firefight and hope to catch him. You nee a prime ggg, rjj or adonis Stevenson (absolute dynamite power, with which he could catch beterbiev early) and prime kovalev. These guys would have stylistically a chance to ko beterbiev. Andre ward has not the best style for success against Beterbiev.
I think that Canelo will be knocked down for the first time in his life if he fights Beterbiev. But believe me Canelo won't fight him.
I remember stating long before Canelo lost to Bivol that he wouldn’t fight Beterbiev unless Artur showed severe signs of aging. The Canelo supporters who claim he has a chance just feel safe to bull**** because they know the fight will never happen. That fight would take years off of Canelo’s prime, he should and will stay away from it.
canelo doesnt belong at 175, he looks short and fat compared to all the naturally big dudes at light heavyweight. Hes got big fights at 168 anyway, so no point in even trying to justify fighting at 175.
Canelo would be to busy running for his life, similar to how he did againt GGG. But against Beterbiev, he might actually run out of the ring.
