3rd world fighters are alot tougher than the 15 yr kids Tszyu was fighting. Remember, they were hungry fighters. Literally

Yeah, why is that? I say they should put Henry Tillman in the IBHOF on the strength of his amateur accomplishments? After all, he beat a few HOFs and an ATG when they were in the amateurs. Does it really matter that all those guys smoked him in the pros?

Agreed... Chavez & Pryor`s relentlesness would get the better of Tszyu IMO.

Chavez/Pryor is the best possible match that could be made of all the champions at 140 in history that I have seen.

I think Chavez superior accuracy earns him a points victory over Pryor assuming we are talking primes.

chavez would have either A broken Tszyu down with a systematic body attack and stopped him late or B Outboxed him . Tszyu was one paced and far more likey to get put on his ass than Chavez. He also got stopped by Vince Phillips , can anyone ever imagine that happening to JCC ?

Meldrick taylor outboxed julio for long periods and was unfortunate to be stopped, but he was also fortunate the fight was only 12 rounds because if it had been 12 1/2 there would have been no complaints.

JCC was a natural 130lber who moved up, he was a far more accomplished fighter than Tszyu. I think a lot of the people who picked Tszyu did not know Chavez, he was a wrecking machine , and people were ruined after they got beaten by him.

Tszyu was excellent , Chavez was an all time great.

Chavez did not take the post-fight drug test (saying he forgot) and also claimed he lost because someone drugged his food.

How the **** does Pryor always get into these discussions because of ONE fight, when he CHEATED in that fight? He gets murdered by JLC or KT, no problems.

A prime Chavez is ANY fighter's worst nightmare at 140 or below. I wouldn't take anyone over him.

Many, many dubious wins in the latter stage of his career, not to mention the alegations of a "questionable early fight record". This early fight record is on par with Rubin Olivares. When Olivares faught Lionel Rose in L.A, his record was listed as 50 wins, 48 KOs.

    Nahh.

Duran would take him at 135. And Oscar would always beat him at 140. And Whitaker at 135. Armstrong would be a helluva matchup too.

imo KT is also an ATG, and there would be no argument about this if it weren't for the one loss to Vince Phillips. Every fighter has a bad night or runs into someone who has his number.

KT is too great a fighter to count out of any matchup at 140, but prime Chavez was just a killing machine. Gotta go with JC Superstar.

There's room to disagree. A lot of great fighters at that weight historically.

Its not just the Vince Phillips fight that makes me question Tszyu. He looked fragile in a few fights , particularly Hurtado. He was an excellent fighter with text book punching technique. He does not have the CV of Chavez though. Julio could also adjust his style to suit an opponent.

ODLH would have struggled at 140 against a prime Chavez for sure.

Tszyu also never fought a prime great fighter. Chavez did.
