Golovkin's people have asked the WBA if they can fight Geale on HBO next, then fight the WBA mandatory...............where do all these boxing orgs get their damned mandatory bums from? How in the hell did Wilder become a mandatory without fighting anyone in the top 150?! Write and complain to the WBA for this crap. Why is Stevenson fighting Fonfara instead of Kovalev?

Do you think Geale still accepts the fight in July on HBO if the WBA don't grant an exemption and GGG vacates the belt?

As usual the OP is only stating the half truth. Fat Dan said K2 is still waiting to hear back from the WBA on whether Geale would be accepted and that if the WBA forced Fletcher as the next fight, HBO would not air it and that it would have to happen in Europe. For what it's worth Rafael said he expects the WBA to allow Golovkin to side-step Fletcher for Geale.

As for what K2 said about fighting Fletcher off-tv in Europe instead of Geale in NY on HBO, that could be seen as a threat to the WBA that they won't see any money should they force the Fletcher fight. At the same time it's likely a bluff as Oleg Hermann stated that scenario would be unacceptable and that they would be moving forward with the Geale fight at MSG.

Golovkin/K2 like those belts, but at 32 Gennady's back is against the wall and given his current potential path the WBA is a fairly irrelevant advantage to have. Right now he's looking at Geale in July, followed by a fight with Chavez in the fall, Martinez in the winter, then the winner of Froch/Groves in spring. His maximum potential lies without the WBA if they decide to force the issue.

He's a British level MW.....not much better than Kerry Hope, Im afraid.

Definitely not as skilled, solid etc as Saunders, mof.....Saunders BEAT HIM DOWN when they were both prospects.....but TO HIS CREDIT....he does have a solid resume for a contender.
Wins over Bursak, Bryant and Suico installed him as #1, winning and defending the PABA and then winning the WBA Int MW title. :think

However, the Bursak fight was NOT an eliminator.....IMO, he should be forced to rematch Saunders.....whichever wins would be a credible defense for anyone in the division.:thumbsup

On a side note, they could up the ante some for Geale fight, by sending the Fletcher fight to purse bids.....let team Fletcher win the bid, then stage the show in the UK where GGG will still get 75% of the revenue, but at least have an audience for his KO1 win.

I don't see a problem with a boxer fighting his mandatory.

    Oops.

I remember listening to him and thinking how deep the UK was at MW......not that they've got several great fighters, but that theyve got a load of good fighters.

Come to think of it.......isnt Browne a BBBoC titlist.......I guess Aussie's contenders consider the UK's regional belts more valuable.:think

The problem with Fletcher is not his boxing skill per se, its his fragility. He is actually pretty skillful at boxing, just competing at the world level requires a certain amount of durability that Fletcher sadly lacks.

If Fletcher could be a 154 fighter he could maybe make some noise, he just is not durable enough for anyone to be interested in seeing him at the world class level at 160.

K2 is very consistent in making bad cards with mediocre talents and not being accepted and shown on US TV.
Even ESPN doesn't want to air the crap K2 puts together.

Germans will spend their money on rat **** and used baby diapers so as usual they will likely be the target market for K2.
