It's too bad that there really are no challengers out there who can really challenge the Klits (I know there's a faction of people who think Haye but i just don't see it). Go Kentucky by the way!
I think Manny's now realizing that he might have coached Wlad a little too well in that regard. This was the first time I've seen Steward get fired up like that. We'll see in Wlad's next defense just how much Manny can get him to open up, but the 12th round was a good start.
dominating someone for eleven rounds doesn't mean you performed great, it just means your opponent performed even worse, which is what happened. i said, chambers is not that good. i'm surprised someone like him lasted as long as he did, but then considering it was against wladimir, maybe i shouldn't be that shocked.
Exactly. :deal Emmanuel Steward came along and made Wlad into this type of fighter. The Pre-Sanders Wladimir was an offensive juggernaut. No matter what anyone says, I know what Wlad is capable of doing. I've got all of his fights. Therefore it's frustrating to see him fight this way against such undersized, outgunned, and outclassed opposition. But hey, at least he's winning.
i expect better, that's all. as a boxing fan, i can see the potential of wladimir, but he just can't do it, he just can't let his hands go. something mentally is stopping him, because he used to be able to do that earlier in his career. oh well. it won't be too long before he gets knocked out again because of it.
Manny got a little fired up when wlad fought iggy. nothing like this though. thankfully manny got wlad fired up this time.
Yeah, something mentally is stopping him. Purrity, Brewster and Sanders. His whiskers aren't reliable and he knows it. Don't expect different, this is who Wlad is, man.
What's mentally stopping him is probably how easy it is to go through the motions and never lose a round. Somebody needs to fire him up to bring the "fighter" out in him, which is why I don't think it's a coincidence that the only other time in this fight he really got upset and showed some urgency (the 2nd round when Eddie body slammed him), he nearly knocked Chambers out with a huge straight right that would've flattened alot of other heavyweights. If a fighter like Povetkin or Haye brings the fight to him and has some success, I think then we might really see the fighter in him come out. Maybe Manny can also light a fire under him after all, as well. As it stands? It's just too easy for him to toy with opponents like a cat playing with a mouse for awhile before disposing of it.
I've got to be honest. I quit watching after the 9th. Wlad should have had Chambers out of there in the 7th or 8th, but he refuses to step on the gas. The American fans will not appreciate you if you do not take risks. Manny understands that, hell Vitali understands it, but it's just not who Wlad is. Too bad, he is boring as hell. Also, wtf was with Chambers moving straight back? I didn't see any lateral movement from him at all. Did anyone else notice that?
