People will probably call me a hater, my only problem is his jumping to a title fight in his 2nd and 3rd pro bouts. I don't think anyone with a great amateur record should be allowed to do this.
He isn't a champion in my eyes. He was given two title shots in three fights. It was the politics that gave him a title. Russell wasn't exactly a proven fighter.
Lomachenko, my favourite fighter. He shares the exact same views a true champion would have, and the views us hardcore boxing fans crave a fighter to have. As for those having a problem with him getting a world title shot in his 2nd pro fight, that's much better than being 24-0 against bums. Arguably the greatest amateur of all time deserves a pro title fight on that merit alone. He's not a Kostya Tszyu, he's not a Gennady Golovkin, he's a GOAT amateur. He's an old school fighter who'd fight the best and wouldn't care about the record. Anyone who is a Lomahater - it says something about themselves and how pathetic they are in their personal lives. They're fooling nobody.
He wanted to make history but they made sure he didn't when he fought the cheating scumbag in Texas. It's true that in general one shouldn't be allowed to make a jump like that because it could literally end in disaster or death but Lomachenko definitely proved what he's made of by taking that risk.
I don't think any accolades from the amateurs should give you title shots. That's just my opinion. He has one good win. I like him too, I like his attitude, but he didn't deserve a title shot.
I think he's legit too. He's a really good fighter and I honestly believe he'll go on to do great things.
He has two good wins, in my opinion three as I believe he beat Salido 115-113 even though he had no pacing strategy. He beat a ranked fighter who was WBO International Featherweight Champion. A guy who does that in his first fight and with ease, deserves a shot at a 'belt'.
I didn't score the Salido fight so I won't speak on that one, I didn't see him dominating either so it's hard to tell. One thing I hear very frequently and confuses me: how is his win over Russell JR good when Russell JR has only fought bums?
Be mad at Salido and Gary Russel Jr, Chonlatarn Piriyapino, Kamil Laszczyk, and Joel Brunker. They were #1-4 in the WBO when Salido chose to fight Lomachenko...voluntarily. What was #1-4 waiting on? Why aren't any of them speaking up about fighting Lomachenko now?(GRjr excluded)
One things for sure he wont be short of quality opponents at 126-130. Can't wait to see him in with the likes of Gradovich, Walters, Donaire, Rigindeaux, Gamboa, Garcia, Salido rematch etc etc
