I did not pay attention to the punch stats. I scored the fight myself as I have done for 40 years and I had it 85-85 going into the 10th. I had just given the 9th to Linares. I had favored Loma going into the fight even though I was more of a Linares fan. This was a close fight no matter what anybody says!

I wish they would do away with the compubox system, it’s a tool used to sway public opinion when it isn’t reliable.

Probably the most reliable thing in boxing. The closest we have to an objective standard. I'll watch a hundred fights a year and compubox will be off once maybe twice. The judges will be wacky every third or fourth fight. And people around here will be consistently nuts without exception.

I love compubox, because finally we have objective measurable data. We can make statistics about how accurate fighters are, how many punches get thrown a round per weight class. We can compare one fighter to another offensively and defensively. You can conclude definitively that fights like Whitaker vs Chavez, Lewis vs Holyfield I, or Tiberi vs Toney that the wrong guy won and it's not just your opinion versus some other dumb jerk. We have detailed, meticulous, systematic data about every round of a fight. The data is gathered in the same methodical way every time and is simple to understand. It's not about styles or stature or what do you like better. It's just raw data that takes all of the politics out of the sport.

It’s not for me , it’s not like the judges get access to it to do judging. It’s
anything far from merticulous, your a knowledgeable dude so you probably know how it works. So no way can you tell me, that guys pressing buttons amidst a sometimes fast paced fight is gunna a merticulous way of gathering data.

It doesn’t take any politics out of the sport, I’ve seen the numbers wrong on several occasions. Look how many people are contending the Linares vs Loma numbers.

At best it gives us a rough guide of how the round went in terms of activity.

It’s a matter of opinion of who was winning which is neither right or wrong. I thought it was a close fight. If you listen to the crowd and commentators you’ll definitely have Loma by a smoke show

Compubox stats appeared way off to me.

I don't have the time to do my own count in slo-mo, but my general impression was that Loma was landing more than Linares.

Regardless, I had the fight 6-3 (86-84) for Loma.

If Linares had made it to his feet, I would have had it 7 - 3 (96 - 92) for Loma.

A bit close, but not one that "...could have gone either way."
