No official weights, but you can't tell that Jaffrey is yuuuuuuuuuge and is significantly larger than Micro Pac??? He's a big, strong, thick boy.

This doesn't make sense. Hated JMM, but matched a roided JMM against his cash cow? Not once, but THREE MORE TIMES after the first fight?

And it's JMM's claim that Arum told him that... You can't say that this is a fact. JMM has lied before in saying that he was working with a team of doctors for III (it was one guy --- doping expert Memo) and that he didn't know about Memo's past (uh huh).

Why didn't Arum say the same thing to Pac when Pac was robbed by Bradley and Horn?

I think there’s also the possibility that Loma can’t find real fights at 130, heck maybe even at 135.

It’s like GGG a few years ago when Sergio/Cotto/Quillin/BJS/etc didn’t want any. Jacobs was the first true star to take him on, and made him look human.

I think Loma would be wise to stay at 130-135 for a bit, but he’s chasing bigger names and must be confident he can carry the weight easily.

Bob can’t stop people from being stars if everyone saw them KO a cash cow. When JMM iced pac, if your hypothesis is correct he should have instantly been propelled into stardom right?

He’s bigger than pac but I can’t tell that he is a super middle weight just by looking at him Lool some people body looks very thick even when they are the same weight as someone. Take Anthony Yarde and Ward, they look like to complete different weight divisions at 175 or how about Callum Smith and Eubank jr at 168.

Linares seems to want the fight, I’m happy for Loma to unify his division too coz he needs to cement his legacy in a weight division but I’m also happy for him to try and make big money by retiring an old legend.

This. PAC stopped doing PPVs for a reason. It took him and Horn to sale the fight, since Horn was a local boy in Australia. If PAC was even 1/4 the draw he used to be he would've stayed on the PPV platform. Beating PAC at this point won't make Loma a star, since the majority of the Fillipino people no longer support PAC's fights.

Also, Loma won't be of much help in selling the fight, since Loma in his last fight had to fight in the basement in MSG because Arum didn't want a bunch of empty seats on camera.

Of course he can. Promoters job is to know how to sell their fighter.

No. The PPV model was doomed and was just on fire during the Pac and Floyd era.

Many of Floyd (Berto, Guerrero, Ortiz, Maidana I and II), Pac (Bradley III, Vargas, Rios, Algieri), and Canelo's PPVs (Khan, Smith) have tanked.

In this new era, 300K-400K is considered good for a superstar.

There's certainly more to gain in beating Pacquiao than there was in beating Rigondeaux.

I can go with that. TBH, it's a fight I'd look forward to seeing.

    don't agree
boxing has never been a mainstream sport, but it has always managed to eclipse all other sports several times a year, when it's star players take the stage in big fights
that use to be the playground of the HW's, but the likes of Oscar, tito, Floyd, pac and canelo have shown that the lower weight fighters can change the playing field
it will come around again and be lucrative for a select few

So if that’s the case who does Bob have that is a superstar at this point? Or even Haymon? or even Oscar? (Canelo is a big star to his country but not that big world wide)

It's a good fight on paper but that's about it. Pac is too big for Loma. Loma can't fight at 147 or even at 140 as per what he has stated before that his max is 135lbs. And Pac, assuming, going down to 135lbs won't be fair for neither of them. If Loma wins at that weight, he won't get credit because Pac will be a zombie ala ODLH. At 140 if Pac wins, he just beat a good small man. But if Loma wins at 140 he will have no excuse to not fight there against other bigger challengers that might want to move down from WW to fight him. He would get called out like Floyd for fighting at JrMW against ODLH but refusing to fight others (GGG, Canelo at full 154lbs and Sergio Martinez) at that same weight he fought once before.

Boxing is not what it was Pre-90's. The boxing market has shrunken significantly since the days of the Fab four and Mike Tyson, however, a Boxing Super Star is a fighter who can attract the casuals in significant numbers compared to his contemporaries. Boxing Super stars in this era are now regional stars. Pacquiao and Mayweather were the last two international stars. Take for example Anthony Joshua, its safe to say he is a Super Star in the UK, as he is the biggest boxing attraction over there at the moment, but he isn't a star here in the U.S. as I'm sure the vast majority of Casuals have ever heard of him. Canelo is another example, he is a Mega star in Mexico and some Latin American countries and obviously the biggest star in boxing in the U.S. as he has proven to have the ability to consistently sell between 350K- 1 million+ PPVs per fight at $74.99 USD.

It is my opinion that Lomachenko would benefit greatly as far as popularity and experience if he fought Pacquiao and actually manaed to beat him. He is a good looking fighter with hype he can back up, and can appeal to Euros, Russians, and white America.

With that said, in order to cross over into the American market as a Super Star you do have to appeal or captivate the Mexican and Mexican-American market since they are the biggest boxing consumers in the western hemisphere and U.S., so hopefully they can find him a Mexican rival Mexicans and get behind.
