I know that may be asking a lot of Lomachenko, who is a notorious egotist and prideful man. He was humbled by Salido and Lopez, but has still yet to make the adjustments to take the steps needed to elevate his game. It's not his lack of skill that does him in. It is his heart. I will not say that Loma is coward in the ring, but he is not a blood and guts guy like Usyk is. We have seen that Usyk is not afraid to get nailed by a much bigger, stronger and harder punching man. His defense protects him from taking too many flush shots, but this is boxing. At the top level against elite guys in their prime everybody gets rocked. It's boxing. Getting rocked is part of the sport. It's intrinsic and you can't avoid it. Uysk's been hit very hard by massive punchers such as Briedis, Gassiev and Joshua. He could have shelled up and ran away and get into a pissing contest of hugs, potshots and pitter patters and then lose a fight 7-5. But that's not good enough. Loma has all the skill in the world. But for some reason he doesn't believe in his chin or perhaps his heart ins't up to par. I don't know what it is. But he's all whirlwind angles against a heavily overmatched opponent. But put a younger, bigger, stronger, meaner, bad mother****er in the ring with him and he backs down.
Back down? Loma pressed the action and fought at mid range, well within Lopez's blast radius, for much of the second half of their fight. So to question the kid's heart or courage seems inappropriate. Loma's cautious approach in the first half of that fight was a function of Lopez's power and speed.
Has he learned from this? What happens the next time he fights a younger, bigger, stronger, tougher fighter? Will he run away for 6 rounds or will he stand and fight?
Yeah base his entire career off one fight. Despite the huge physical advantages he's routinely giving away, the amount of punchers and KO artists he's fought most of whom bigger or way bigger than him, he's one of the most aggressive fighters in the game. One of the most aggressive whilst simultaneously being one of the best defensively.
He's very aggressive against overmatched opposition. Different story against a big, strong, hard punching fighter.
Has it occurred to you that it took Lomachenko time (admittedly more than he'd probably would have preferred) to adjust to Lopez's combination of physical size, power and speed? Or are we simply going to engage in reductionist "he ran away, he has no heart" drivel?? But at least you acknowledge that he pressed the action for much of the second half of the fight. That's progess.
He wasn't humbled by Salido, Salido came in weighing over the limit. And fouled Lomachenko over 100 times with low blows. And then was allowed to hold on for dear life like an octopus in the 12th round by an incompetent referee, when Lomachenko was on the verge of stopping him. As for the Lopez fight Lomachenko had a well documented shoulder injury and needed surgery on it, Lomachenko fought very passively and lackluster in the first half of the fight. But came on late but left it a bit too late and lost a close decision.
Complete nonsense. Commey, Campbell, Nakatani, Linares, and Walters. And you do realize when you're campaigning outside your natural weight class facing opponents who are one, two or three divisions heavier the power is magnified right?

had he not been from a non English speaking country he would have gotten the decision in both the Salido and Lopez fights. The biggest lesson he should have learned by now is he will never get the benefit of the doubt on any card.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is what's known as moving the goal posts. Walters was plenty big, strong and hard punching at..........the weight the fight was contested at!! Look, man, I'm not trying to bust your balls here. You made a foolish comment (implying that Loma lacked heart and courage). Take the "L" and move on. We all say dumb sh*t from time to time.
Campbell hits very hard and these fighters hit very hard against career 135 pounders and fighters their own size not blown up 126 pounders they're much bigger than Timestamped This content is protected This content is protected Reporter: ''Does Campbell punch hard?''
