Seen Gallagher getting some stick for not pulling him out at the end of the third. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and Crolla did take a bit of a pasting in round 3 but I think he would of been devastated if Joe pulled him out
Absolutely pathetic showing, as totally expected Threw a handful of punches, ran away and got knocked out Everyone said it from when it was first announced, totally pointless fight and a waste of Lomachenkos talent.
Its not fair play for stepping up at all, that is such nonsense spin by Eddie Hearn that you seem to have swallowed I guarantee you Hearn. Gallagher, even Crolla himself knew he had absolutely no chance what so ever, these are men with 20 years boxing experience they know whats up. The fight wasnt taken in some honorable "test himself against the best" situation, the fight was taken for a payday Nothing inherently wrong with that although it is irritating Lomachenko has had a period of his career wasted by having to take such an embarrassingly easy fight. Wants to test himself against the best and runs from corner to corner, throws like 10 punches and gets knocked out.Only thing he tested was his punch resistance and that was also firmly at British level too A total waste of everyones time
Hearn does this a lot. The classic example is Cocaine Barker going over to Germany with his hip in need of surgical repair and collapsing quickly and running back home to London with his money that was essentially pickpocketed at the expense of paying fans. At least Barker didn’t get conclusively KO’d though. Crolla damn near almost died last night.
What do you want Hearn to do or say? Tell his fighter to not accept a mandatory title shot and career high payday? Or tell the media “oh my fighters got no chance but he’s getting paid millions so it’s fine”. There’s plenty of things to criticise Hearn for, this isn’t one of them and it was a ESPN/Top Rank show!
For everyone complaining, here is the contact address for the WBA http://www.wbaboxing.com/contact-us Not sure how this is anyone's fault other than the boxing organisation for making their champion fight their mandatory.
Crollas purse was $300,000, which means take home pay was probably like £100,000. He definitely got more for other fights.
Adam Smith" he's been sparring southpaws like Frankie Gavin and Jazza Dickens" Great preparation for maybe the best boxer in the world!
I lap up every word Hearn says, the man is a god and I get a proper semi on when he does his hour long IFL interviews. Now if you believe I think that then you’re an absolute weapon. Jog on. Crolla got himself into a mandatory position so blame the WBA for that fight happening. If Loma wanted to dodge the fight he could have done but not every fight has to be of the highest calibre. That’s the kind of fight you need when you’re giving your rehabilitated shoulder a bit of a test run and blowing off the cobwebs. I agree with others when they say that it’s Crolla’s time to retire. He’s had a fantastic career. Fair play to him.
