Defend what? All this is is about some message boarders who think a 22yo, who just got his first title BTW, is offered almost TWICE his prior purse, and somehow that's lowball!?? I don't argue w/ crazy....

You obviously don't if you think Salido refusing a career high offer to make NOTHING INSTEAD is a better business move.

What Lopez is going to receive if he accept the fight is 30% from 70:30 scheme. This is a fair deal. The reasons are as follows :

    1. Loma is titleholder of both WBA and WBO, and also the de-facto champion of WBC if you want to count that one as well. Loma will put two titles on the line and Lopez only one. If you calculate the ratio of titles at stake here, it is clear and pretty much 2:1 (67:33) in favor of Loma.

    2. Loma is top P4P ranker. If not number one, then he is number two. But still, he is the best name in the lower weight divisions.

    3. Loma has bigger name than Lopez and has much better track record.

I can understand that Lopez wants a bigger pay for possibly the biggest fight in his career. However, the current situation is not a normal one and completely change the whole financial factor. At normal situation, this fight would easily give him an earning of minimum $2 million. He can't expect Lomachenko to cut his pay to make the fight either since the latter also suffered from a significant decrease of income.

If Teo beats Loma he gets to stardom overnight, and will have negotiation leverage over future fights against Tank, Haney, Ryan G, etc . I'm sure he knows this so make the fight happen Teo
Unless he's not really confident of beating Loma...

None of these cowards want to fight Lomachenko now. I'm sure that will suddenly change when he's in his mid 30s or starts showing signs of slippage.

"I'm just tryin to feed my family"

LOL. That's a hell of hilarious excuse.

In the era of pandemic where many people are losing their jobs and have hard time, this brat is telling people that 1.25 million dollar is not enough to feed his family. What kind of food his family is eating ? Caviar ? Or gold inggots ? :D

I still remember all the big talks about beating Loma. Turns out is just full of hot air. What a joke.

It is a duck, but he has handlers.

He could take the low money and get schooled by Lomachenko, losing his rep and belt.

Let’s say he headlines a couple of cards first. He’ll clear a million between two fights if not individually. Let’s say boxing has recovered completely by next fall and they fight. He might do 3 to 5 million and have a better shot at winning due to maturing while Lomachenko ages.

If 1.25 million dollars (earned in an INCOME-TAX FREE STATE) is not enough for Teo to 'feed his family' until his next fight then he needs to enroll himself into a few money management courses pronto.
