No he won’t, because Lomachenko won’t be as heavy in the ring as Donaire or Amagasa. Lomachenko can easily make 126, and he doesn’t put on much weight after weigh in. Lomachenko is a narrow shouldered, small boned guy.
They're both small men. That's why the fight at 122, 126, 130 pounds. The fight in the lower weight classes. But Rigo is like 5'3" He's very tiny. Smaller than Loma. Lomachenko may be narrow clavicle, but his waist and core is powerful.
Uhh, yes he will. A 122 pounder blowing up 15 pounds by fight time, with water weight, isn't as solid in terms of mass, as a 130 pounder is on fight night. He'll be more solid than either guy.
Lomachenko is a small 130 pounder. He's small for the weight class. But Rigo is small for the 122 pound class. So it evens out. The bottom line is a guy who is small having to move up in weight to fight a bigger guy means something. Loma is bigger.
I was talking to an old boxing trainer the other day on this, and he said Rigo walks around at the weight he fights at Rigo's a master. Problem is he's fighting a master who's a good bit bigger
You realise that boxers get to a weight class by losing water weight from their muscles? You look at how much they weigh on fight night. Lomachenko is smaller than both of those guys, despite fighting at 130. He’s simply not draining as much as when he fought at 126, on fight night he weighs exactly the same in the ring as when he was at 126.
Lomachenko plans on going up to 135 to fight Mikey Garcia....................I would like to see Lomachenko stay at 130 long enough to get the other champs to fight him before moving up................Wonder if the weight will hurt Rigo's stamina? Lomachenko never gets tired, never.....................
I dealt with these idiots before, they think guys are camels that actually add 15 pounds of "water" to their body to artifically weigh more, and the weight somehow isnt real.
Anyway. The size difference will not be as much as people are hoping/thinking. Loma is a taller by 2 inches and probably only going to be 8 pounds heavier in the ring. Thats not much of a frame difference. Rigo has a reach advantage and shorter fighters with longer reaches are historically troubling to taller fighters...Liston and Jimmy Bivins comes to mind. Loma should win but hes not walking over Rigo. Rigo is likely to go the distance, everyone knows this, and people predicting a demolition of the smaller man so they can criticize Loma when it doesnt happen. This match up still has intrigue, I expect it to be conpetitive and go to the cards. If Rigo is stopped it will be late after being worked over.
I don't think he usually throws full speed. I think he keeps punching constantly at about 50 percent like you see the Diaz bros do in mma. He's always moving and looking for angles instead of setting his feet and punching through the target. So he never gets tired and he can put up impressive volume, but he's not a banger. Mikey can bang.
The old adage say a great big man will almost always beat a great small man? Not that it always happens but I think the odds reflect that. The style both of these guys have rely very little on weight and brute strength to win their fights. They are finesse fighters....who use a lot of strategy and craft to win. Loma being the more solid man who is naturally a bit larger than Rig will have an advantage of being able to absorb the punches of Rig, better. At least that is how it should be. Rig has very sharp, crisp punches but he will be hitting a bigger man in a higher weight class and there's a question of bringing up that power with him....or how that power will effect a 130 lb man? Loma isn't really a power puncher although he does have respectable pop behind his punches that is mostly generated through speed and velocity. He also has great technical form but as a combination puncher he gives up a lot of power with that style. However, that power could feel a lot different to Rig than most other 130 lb guys because he's really not a 130 lber. Rig is at a disadvantage from that scope, but that doesn't mean he's going to get dominated or knocked out. I suspect Rig will fight a very defensive and measured boxing match tonight...or at least try to. He'll look to slow Loma down with body shots early and control the pace of the fight with a lot of defensive footwork and movement. Loma's workrate will be something to keep an eye on....if his punch output dramatically drops...that's a great sign that Rig is dictating the pace, distance and tempo as the ring general. If Rig can't negate the workrate and he's overly defensive, That most likely means Loma is controlling the action and fighting his fight.
Knocking out a much older smaller fighter is like playing ****ing tee-ball. It's a cakewalk. It's like how they throw the prospects a tomato can with a dozen losses for his first fight. If you can't beat up your dad you don't get to be #1 p4p in the sport.
This is a pretty stupid post, so Rigo is a tomato can now? Kudos for throwing one of the best fighters of recent times under the bus because you dont want to give the other guy credit. Im telling you how the fight will go down. You arent even making a prediction, you are just expressing unrealistic expectations so you dont have to credit Loma. Unless Rigo has fallen off the bus completely, comes in a shadow of himself, anyone without a reach advantage or 20 pounds is going to have trouble demolishing him.
