http://www.sport-express.ru/boxing/professional/news/874843/ Egis Klimas: According to the contract we have one more fight until the end of the year. We plan it somewhere in October. Promoter and television say that it makes sense to meet with Jamaican boxer Nicholas Walters. And Vasily wants to combine the titles.
Loma is getting knocked out if he goes after Walters. I think he should fight Mares or Donaire first. If Loma struggled with Salido being a bigger heavier guy, Walters is going to put him in a coma. But I don't see this happening the way that Loma has been matched since he got his title.
I can't see how Lomachenko can win this. Me and one of my mates recently spent a few afternoons watching as much video as we could find of these two and then we did a tale of the tape each giving them a mark out of 10 in 15 separate categories. My scores are on the left Category 1: Strength & conditioning Loma 8/8 Walters 9/9 Category 2: Punch arsenal, punch selection and repertoire Loma 8/9 Walters 9/10 Category 3: Resume Loma 7/5 Walters 10/7 Category 4: Heart Loma 9/7 Walters 10/9 Category 5: Punching power Loma 7/6 Walters 10/10 Category 6: Hand speed Loma 10/9 Walters 9/9 Category 7: Ring IQ/ring generalship Loma 9/10 Walters 10/10 Category 8: Chin & Durability Loma 8/8 Walters 9/9 Category 9: Footwork Loma 9/10 Walters 9/10 Category 10: Effective aggression Loma 8/8 Walters 10/10 Category 11: Entertainment value Loma 8/7 Walters 10/10 Category 12: Body punching Loma 9/8 Walters 8/9 Category 13: All round boxing skills Loma 9/9 Walters 10/10 Category 14: Influence/impact on the sport Loma 5/4 Walters 6/6 Category 15: Defence Loma 7/7 Walters 8/9 Walters wins 12-1-2 (overall score 272 to 237)
Strange thing to say, since it's Loma's team talking that they want the fight and Walters saying that he would rather fight someone else. If it doesn't happen, it's because Walters is avoiding Loma. If it happens, Walters will lose.
I don't like that Lomachenko is already becoming a two fight a year fighter. Lomachenko is a boxer who learns everytime he gets in the ring. Loma should be doing what GGG is doing staying active and fight 4 times a year right now that you are young, not well known, inexperienced and it's still possible for him to fight that many times a year. Obviously, since he basically didn't fight the first half of the year, he wouldn't be able to get 4 fights this year but 3 would be possible. The only thing that stops this may be that he has brittle hands, but I still feel he should be staying more active. Disappointed how they are managing his career tbh.
Remember he suffered an injury to his hands but I agree, he should have at least another two fights this year (because he's so damned fun to watch as well).
Yeah, I know that's why I said the only thing that could stop him from staying active is that he may have brittle hands (hopefully not). He is really fun to watch, maybe he keeps having these injuries because his dad may still not have experience on how to properly wrap his hands as a professional; since it is different from wrapping hands in the amateurs (I really don't know if his dad is doing the hand wrapping though). But Lomachenko has to stay active right now, while he's still young and is able to do it. He will only become better as he gains more professional experience. Maybe if he can somehow get rid off Walters early (most likely won't happen), he'll have another fight in December.
