Both have the same type of boxing pedigree, yet in only 8 fights Loma already has a better resume than GGG does in 30+. GGG has IMO the technical skill to dominate from 154-168 possibly even 175, but he doesn't. Sticks around in the weak MW division, for what?!?
GGG's care 160 would be exactly like Lomachenko staying at 126 to fight guys like Koasicha, Ramirez etc. instead of fighting the best at 126 let alone 130, let alone dominating 130 so far, let alone the only challenges being seen for him are by a big LW and a LWW (Mikey and Pac) when Loma only weighs 137 on fight night - no more than he weighed on fight night as a 126lber.
I slightly disagree w/ this. Loma definitely has faster feet. The way GGG controls space and cuts off the ring though is almost masterful.
I wouldn't go that far. If Hagler fought in this era, would there be critics saying he lacked heart? I honestly don't know the answer.
Eh, I like them both. I don't care if Golovkin stays at 160. I mean, I'd prefer him to move up to 168 but at the same time it isn't like he has to. I like watching him fight and he's pretty heavily avoided so I don't get too upset when matches fall through. It usually isn't his fault.
Loma owned Walters in such a huge way. GGG breaks them down but he got tagged repeatedly by the far less powerful Brook. Walters couldn't find Loma who was in his face
Heck, I'm a GGG fan, but that doesn't mean I won't call it like I see it. What Loma's done, and his ultimate goals in boxing, shines a flashlight on a lot of talented guys that make 'em look bad (or, to phrase it nicer, shows them as underachievers). And GGG is one of them. Boxing fans have been waiting for an A+ level talent that didn't play games and seem hell-bent on alienating them. Loma still seems almost too good to be true- the skills are there, but he'll still fight anyone, travel into hostile territory to do it, and face guys who aren't ideal style matchups for him. And, he's got a promoter with the power and motivation to get him those matchups. Enjoy the ride.
It's masterful against his opponents so far. But we still don't know how good he is until he steps up in competition, and at some point he's going to have to concede to big name fighters to prove his worth.
Very true. That's partly my point though. I Do think he has the technical skills to do it against almost anyone except Ward (I'd love to see that fight). He just doesn't seem inspired to.
