He isn't featherfisted at all. He just doesn't commit to his punches to the head, he throws big punches to the body and several opponents went down after that.
He is featherfisted which is why he throws volume punches. He has fought 1 skilled opponents who was semi drunk and got beat. The guy is nothing special. Just a good boxer who pot shots.
So he is featherfisted because he is a volume puncher? Was Margarito or Pavlik featherfisted as well because they were volume punchers? Nice logic. :thumbsup
Yes. Joe Calzaghe belongs in that group too. Margrito was using substances in his wraps. Panama Lewis style. Pavlik was legit but he was also drunk during every fight. The drug test is not for alcohol you know.
Beautiful boxing skill and technique. His lack of power was fairly evident last night though. He landed a ton of clean head shots from the outset and didn't seem to hurt the guy once. No staggering, or wobbles. Even at the end, it was more the guy being like **** it, then him actually being debilitated by the body shots. He took a knee and quit, not criticizing him, he was outclassed, just saying Lomachenko lacks power. I'd like to see him and Walters.
Lomachenko could be considered a light puncher because he landed power shots, to the head in volume for 10 rounds, and didn't wobble or stagger the guy once. Even the body shot was more the guy packing it in, then him actually being debilitated and unable to continue.
Lomo's skills can't be denied. Well rounded and solid. Would love to see him and Russell fight again.
Calzaghe did have decent punching power early in his career when he floored Eubank who was durable. And I don't believe that Margarito used loaded gloves for every fight before he got caught, there is no evidence for that. But the thing is even if Lomachenko doesn't have one punch KO power, he still wears down his opponents with hard body shots.
