dont exactly understand what its trying to be. is it just amateur boxing without the head guard? or is it trying to be some kind of league or association to rival pro ranks? will they fight for wba wbc etc world titles?

Surely if they want to earn millions they will have to fight world class professional fighters outside the AIBA.

    I agree.

I'm not entirely sure how it'll work but it'll be interesting, for sure.

The way I am reading it , there will be some 50 or 60 of these "Elite" amateurs who will fight in there respective weight divisions, on a league format type thing.

A little bit like the Snooker Leagues/Darts Leagues that sky have I guess.

They presumably will put on several big bills a year, selling out the venues and probably selling the broadcast rights to numerous companies around the world, I assume that is where they will get the huge amounts they seem to be promising these guys.

Sounds interesting but the extra rounds and no headguards may play against these guys when they go to the next Olympics like many are saying they will.

Back to 3x3 from 8x3 will be a totally different ball game to them if thats the way it works, four years out of the basic scenario that the others are preparing by may cause some problems.

Add to that that presumably almost every fight will be competitive (i.e.) they are only signing up good fighters, so there should be very few gimmees. 4 hardish years of 6 competitive fights a year may shorten careers quicker than the current format.

Still its a year off and almost anything could happen I guess.

Well if a someone is thinking of boxing at Rio, then it would be a good move to sign up to this rubbish, if only just to get the judges on side.....
