I actually think that Loma's whole team took a deep breath of relief that Walters lost the title due to weight. I don't think that they ever wanted the fight because they wasted no time in saying that it wouldn't happen. That lame excuse about him not having a title is just that ( a lame excuse ). I think that the Axe Man could make the weight for a Loma fight but he blew it and gave team Loma the perfect excuse.

Why would they fight a guy who's shown to be incapable to make the weight and lost his belt when for the longest time they stated that's been their goal, they haven't changed their tune for this.

They've already been bit once with Salido (regarding weight issues) as well so that probably factors into it. Would I still want to see the fight? Yes, it'd be great but there's no ducking involved here, the fight was looking all but made anyway until Walters ****ed up so if you're going to blame somebody Walters is your man here.

If Walters could make the weight, then he would've made it for the Marriaga fight.
Walters had two chances to lose 1.4lbs and couldn't do it.

I don't think that they care about it too much, considering how Walters ran from Loma, saying that Gonzalez would've been a better fight, while Lomachenko's team wanted the unification right after Walters defeated Donaire, with more money being on the table for Walters/Loma than for the Gonzalez fight.

Now, when Walters lost his title and isn't able to make the weight anymore, he talks about being interested in the fight, despite his own promoter saying that Walters will be fighting at 130 from now on.

It's always easy to run your mouth when you're safe.

I hear you but their emphasis is on him not having the title, not his weight. It's like they are chasing titles not good fights. Walters is a big feather in any featherweights cap, title or not and if they really wanted the fight then they could have mandated some stipulations in the contract to ensure the proper weight was achieved. They were a little green with the Saldo fight but I'm sure they learned their lesson and shouldn't let that scare them away from an excellent which would boost his status more than any previous fight that he's had. I think they didn't like what they saw from Walters in the Marriaga fight and opted to do something else altogether. I don't blame them.

Yeah, and with the stipulation of Walters losing his title he still couldn't make the weight against Marriage, there'll be no guarantee and it could turn out to be a waste of time/money or they'll run into a repeat of Salido scenario.

I absolutely don't blame them from shying away from a fighter who's shown to not be professional enough to even make weight for his first title defence, that's just pathetic.

And fighters like Walters just **** me off in general, I'm tired of these weight drainers who drain 20 pounds off and then can't make the weight, he ruined a lot of great potential bouts in the division, this **** needs to stop it's too rampant in boxing.

I don't understand all this criticism toward Loma. This fight was basically a go, but then Mr. Walters couldn't make weight now all of the sudden it's Loma's fault. Remember you live and learn and one of the mistakes Loma did against Salido was letting him come in over weight and letting him rehydrate to whatever he wanted. F Salido btw.
So what? Is Loma supposed to move up because Fat ass Walters can't make weight anymore? Walters was the one not to keen on fighting Loma, before the Marriaga fight, but now people are trying to make it seem like Loma is the one ducking. This guy has Five fights and has bigger ***** than most fighters in boxing.
"We should give Walters the benefit of a doubt, he can make 126 again doe". How the heck do we know he could make it? Instead of making assumptions why doesn't Walters try to get a fight ASAP and prove he can make it!!! Instead of crying like a b*tch, same goes to his fans.
Walters basically had Six months to lose weight (from 160 to 126) and still couldn't make, so how are you guys so sure he can make it? I applaud Loma and his team for not taking the risk with an unprofessional boxer like Walters.

Nah pure speciation. Lomochenko fights anyone we already know this by who he has fought in only a handful of pro fights. Guy took apart Gary Russel jr like nothing he's not worried about Walters.

On the surface, it looked like Loma wanted the fight but after Walters demonstration on Marriaga Loma was shaking in his boots. He probably said a prayer in thanks that Walters missed the weight and loss the title. I actually think that he would have fought him anyway if he would've looked less than stellar. Like I said, I can understand it because Walters would visit some serious drama on his ass.

Demonstration on Marriaga? I came out of that fight more impressed with Marriaga than Walters. If anything that fight exposed Walters a bit as he was the vastly bigger guy yet got outboxed for periods in that fight and couldn't put a dent in his opponent. If Walters didn't lose the title on the scale then the fight would be signed already. Before Walters missed weight it was a done deal.
