Lomachenko might be the best pound for pound fighter in boxing. Amazing speed. Amazing footwork. Such balance. Such defense in terms of ducking or blocking. And murder on the counter. What's the other fighter to do? Keep the gloves up high, and he'll work the body. Try to punch back, and he'll nail you with a quick counter. Try in-fighting? He'll nail you with the uppercut.
He's a long way off being even ranked P4P, nevermind being the best. Quit the nuthuggery. He already lost to a very beatable fighter too.
He just has a high work rate but his style isn't fan friendly as long as they keep feeding him pigeon's.
Just a high work rate? So none of the angles, lateral movement, balance, defensive savvy or craftiness is noticeable in your observation of Lomo? Interesting. It's like saying Rig has only defense.
How can a dude with 5 fights be ranked P4P? Quit the glue duns. Hi Tech is sick and all, but he got beaten by a very beatable dude already.
He is monumentally talented. Watching him in the ring( granted against overmatched competition recently), you can see his pedigree. He stepped up to a grizzled, battle-hardened veteran like Salido in his 2nd fight. Salido didn't make weight, fought dirty and Lomachenko still almost won. He could have backed out beforehand. He didn't. Most guys are fighting 4 rounders at that point, against entry level fighters. In a sport where we are constantly calling on fighters to step up their game and take challenges, this guy threw caution to the wind and stepped up right out of the gate. I'm not going to hold it against him, I'm going to praise him for it. This idea that a loss is indicative of anything other than that the other was better on the night is so overblown.
He'll be avoided in the same way early Floyd Mayweather was - the risk/reward factor just isn't there at the moment.
Lomachenko's the goods, and boxing fans know it. Beating the fighters he has in his last 3 fights that easily is a good accomplishment for a fighter in his 4th, 5th, and 6th fights. Loma does it, and we almost get bored because we know they're walkovers. It wasn't a bad idea to get him a few matches like this to give him a little more pro experience, but it's time for Arum to get the matchmaking back up to snuff. That feels weird to say because his first 6 fights is already up there with the toughest resumes to start a career I've ever seen, but with great power comes great responsibility. Can't wait to see what's next for him.
You could write ten whole academic papers of you like but it all boils down to this. Lomachenko is not P4P worthy atm...not even close. To suggest he's the best P4P atm is like saying Audley Harrison is an all time great.
Lost or ''lost''. And it was his SECOND pro fight :rofl Who did top talents like DLH, Floyd, Mosley, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc , etc, etc, etc fight in their 2nd fight?
It's not that they can't see it.....it's hard for some to acknowledge what they see for one reason or another.
