Yup. In the the end, this is all that matters; effective precision punching and being defensively astute. Lomachenko's haters will have to carry on waiting many years yet before he takes another loss. Lopez is going to badly exposed for the hood rat he is.
So you are saying he slipped, meaning his boxing skills declined because he went up and down in weight ? That doesn’t make any sense at all to me. If you are saying his natural gift like speed and reflex slipped I can except that but then that would be exactly what we have been saying. Roy was never a good boxer. So which is it? If you are going to say both that’s BS. Your skill does not “slip” going up and down with weight.
Yes dropping 2 weight classes in your mid 30s after a decade of fighting world class opposition is a recipe to get yourself knocked the hell out. Had nothing to do with skill. Your comment that Roy Jones was not a good boxer. Just lmfao. Not worthy of an argument Absolute silliness
What do you mean had nothing to do with skills. If you had good boxing skills prior you'd still be good at blocking, side stepping , clinching etc.... This wasn't the case with Jones, he relied on natural reflex. Not skill. He got knock the **** out by very average guys cause he didn't have the skill to avoid these C class boxers. Roy Jones Jr was not a great technical boxer!!!
I said "multiple" times....i'll bite and agree with the Tarver KO but what the other times Roy went to sleep? Where was his, as you allege, ring IQ then?
Exactly. It's like Muhammad Ali; once his speed left him we saw he *bad* his defence really was. When Floyd started to have a lower output we still could see how defensively brilliant he was and how selective he was in his punches. He never wasted energy or output.
A great fighter. I just wish he'd turned pro earlier. I don't want to criticise him, but as a fan, it was disappointing to see him fight in 2 Olympics. I know it's a great honour for fighters, but to me, he's wasted 4 years of his career.
In some countries this is conisdered as big legacy, I mean amateur accomplishments. Ukraine did not had pro boxing in soviet times. Different countries, different history and values.
