2nd dumbest decision was not insisting that Lopez sign a rematch clause before their fight. He had all the leverage and Lopez would have signed it. Instead he rips up his shoulder labrum during the first phase of training camp held in Ukraine and they were F'd.
It's so sad and unfair that he did not get that undisputed tittle and retired then he was great fighter for me. someone, who I want my son to be as a boxer. I hope Papachenko can train some new kid and he can adopt his style and skills.
it’s truly astonishing, the decisions people make sometimes… like, why would you NOT fight Kambosos for all 4 belts when you KNOW YOU CAN EASILY BEAT HIM? serve your country after, no one is going to question you and your desire. stupid, stupid, stupid.
H2H mid tier ATG with a low-mid tier ATG resume. Also very overrated with a ridiculous amount of excuses being made for him at every single stage of his career and immediately after his retirement. Half of these posts are saying how unfair it is that he had to fight opponents that are naturally bigger and taller than him, as if that isn't the entire point of being a P4P ATG lol. And then people saying he repeatedly got robbed because he's Ukrainian as if Usyk doesn't exist. Usyk managed to get close and competitive wins over the Latvian Breidis in Latvia and the British Fury in Britain, with the latter being a hundred million dollar fight for the most important title in boxing in the Undisputed Heavyweight Title mind you, in a weight class that has an entire power structure and media apparatus based in his Fury's home country! Usyk, unlike Loma, didn't leave room for error and was aggressive as **** in all his close fights, so much so he could overcome any hometown cooking. If Loma's fight IQ just was on par with his skill level he could have managed this also. It's not a coincidence that Loma got "robbed" in all the fights where he decided to take rounds off for no good reason.
