Lomachenko has no punch and somewhat prone to cuts. This may be his biggest problem as a pro. But he is an entertaining technician, probably on the level of Amir Khan. Also he needs to find a pro-trainer. His father is learning on the job and is not great as a pro-trainer. This already cost Loma a fight with Salido, and might lead to other close losses as well.
True. Golovkin too, only they don't want to fight him (only the ones in higher weightclasses). Rigo has that exact same problem.
Lomachenko is prone to cuts? In what fight was he cut? Amir Khan is a technician? His father is a great trainer, amateur or pro. What pro trainer would do a good job? Guys like Roach etc. are overrated as ****, what could they possibly bring to the table? His father knows him back to front and has trained him for 20+ years. Changing that would be idiotic, especially when they have had so much success together. His father told him everything he needed to hear during the Salido fight, Vasyl just didn't implement it well or turn it up when he was told to. Pacing is something that comes with experience, complaining about low blows comes with experience. You don't need a trainer for that, and technically Lomachenko is as perfect as a fighter can get. The way he mixes offence and defence is almost unseen, what can another trainer possibly bring to the table?
He was cut in Salido fight, it came from heads collision, but anyway... Amir Khan is a great technician, when he wants to be such. Pro-boxing is a new territory for Loma`s father. It was just obvious that he lacks an experience as a strategist for the pro-fight. He was very conservative with advices, being not sure if his son has enough stamina or not. Probably it all will come together later on, but as a trainer he needs to catch up.
Loma has already lost once, and if he doesn't learn how to be more agressive, there's many more decision losses coming his way, especially against slick black americans. GGG has the equalizer that Loma doesn't. In the pro ranks, sometimes a good punch and a chin go a longer way than boxing skills. Just see what Mickey Garcia did to Salido.
Which slick black Americans are better than Lomachenko at Featherweight? Better yet, which ones are at Featherweight, period?
