2 time olympic gold 2 time am world champ all the skills in the world and a record rumored to be around 320-1 and he loses against a guy lost 12 times before good world champ but the 'easy option' in top ranks eyes.

Even tho these ams have the skills the small learning curves are vital in the pro game I hope people now realise this when asking for anthony joshua luke campbell ect to step up too much too soon I know this is on another level but got to crawl before you can run.

He learnt infinitely more about the pro game last night than Joshua and Campbell will have from 20 fights with journeymen. It's a shame a loss is seen as having such a devastating effect on a boxing career.

Lomachenko has proved he can mix it at that level now.

Thats all I got from it.

    Nothing devastating about the loss.

That could ruin what could have been or still might be a legend in the pro game. I think it was a stupid decision he could learn from it but also could seriously dent his confidence and lift future oponents confidence hes not as invincible as first thought and the mexican salido has lost 12 times before!! Hes not your top level world champ gamboa schooled him garcia took him out comfotably and the loss before that was to a 19-21-0 journey man. I think thos is stupid and damages his career

We knew he could mix it at the top hes lost 1 out of over 300 am contest and never lost in nearly 30 WSB bouts but WHY rush really there is no need I feel even if they gave him 10 bouts then went for it hed be ready but after 1 bout really is no need

Buster, boxing needs to get away from these pointless career build up fights where fighters can have 20+ fights and not even be involved in a 'real' fight.

MMA has got it right, you get wacked in there with people with similar talent from the get go. There's no reason boxing can't be the same, then we can see the end to all these pathetic 49-0 records with just a handful of meaningful fights in those 49 fights.

If fans didn't react so badly to defeats then that would rub off on to the fighters and then the promoters. People act like it's the end of the world, which it isn't, Bernard Hopkins lost his first fight. **** happens, you carry on and work on getting better.

You just dont get what im saying. I arnt saying give him 40 odd meaningless fights if you read my llat post I said I think hed be ready after 10 also you talk about simular talent? Salido is no were near as talented as lomachenko all im saying is after a few more fights maybe 6 or 8 months lomachenko would of schooled him so why rush it could have a massive effect on his career. Im not a fan of one sided fights as much as you are but all fighters need to learn there trade and I think only boxing ppl will know what im talking about

I get what your saying but I also get what the others are saying, we've got two extremes here of how to bring a fighter along. As we know fighting is all about styles and I thought that even though they might of picked the perceived weaker champ here for Lomachenko they could of made a blunder because he's a top pro who knows the game with bags of experience and a real tough nut to go with it. He's better than his record shows when you look at the fighters he's been in with and I wouldn't really take much notice to some of his earlier losses. On top of all that he came into the ring as a welterweight, any featherweight in the world would of struggled with that. Lomachenko though showed that he can fight at that level although as you rightly say experience was the difference. It all depends how you look at him losing his his 0 and whether it's important. At the end of the day he probably learnt more from that fight than 20 fights against no hopers which seems to be the norm these days specially with British prospects. I was impressed with him and his potential and I expect to see him fighting from now on against a mix of styles against top rated fighters, genuine top 15 fighters. If this has affected his confidence as you mentioned it might of then he's never gone a be a top fighter anyway. All the great fighters of the past have come back from setbacks/unexpected tough fights stronger and I expect him to as well. I'm looking forward to seeing him in with the Mikey Garcias, Nonito Donaires etc in the future with a few more good fights under his belt. I'd also like to say I was impressed with his post fight interview, he came across as a class act with a good professional attitude.

I don't think fighting Salido initially was a mistake but fighting him after he missed weight and came into the ring as a Welterweight was. The dodgy ref certainly didn't help matters either.

I think who ever watched it knows it wasnt a SD. Also I think for those who have followed him years and are fans of Am boxing that with the right progression hed be a legend and solido would give him no problems at all when he was READY he was a better am then gamboa. Him and rigondaux are the bedt iv seen I feel impateince could have really dented his career but hay some ppl want too much too soon and are happy with that I just like to see people reach there potential then be in great fights with a great career hope he turns it around and fullfills his potential
