I like many people who watched the fight this past Saturday, couldn't have been more disappointed in the terrible refereeing by Cole this past Saturday. I've tried too wrap my head around how Salido could have gotten away with so many low blows, and was not even given a warning!

The only conclusion I an come up with is the powers in boxing (don't know who the hell that would be) punished Lomachenko for trying to make a mockery of the sport by winning a world championship in only his 2nd pro fight. I know this is a stretch but I just can't figure for the life of me how they could have allowed this to happen, thoughts.

    a) You don't follow boxing
    b) You haven't seen Cole ref before
    c) You are looking too deep to read into something/someone you are passionate about because of a).

He's still gonna have chance to make history and tie for the record in his next fight

I agree, Salido put the thought into the head of everyone that it was disrespectful to pro boxing. Lampley and especially Kellerman were very eager to defend the idea that you shouldn't fight for a pro title so early. Lomachenko officially landed more punches and at a far higher percentage than Salido, who fouled constantly and came in overweight. All Salido landed was low blows, which the judges and compubox had to count as body shots due to them not being called low.
Lomachenko got a pro lesson, the pro game is about politics, hype, corruption and complaining to manipulate the situation. He clearly won the boxing match imo, despite pacing himself too much. Everyone involved in the pro game and the marketing of the pro game had it in their best interests for Lomachenko to lose. What would it say about the pro game if an amateur came in for his first 12 round fight against a title holder who is the worst possible style match up for someone coming from the amateurs, in just his second pro outing?
Even when Rigo did it in 8 fights against Cordoba you had the HBO team trying to downplay him as an amateur that has to learn a lot, and the judges had the fight closer than it should've been. How dare a guy attempt that in 2 fights :verysad

    D) None of the above

Been a fan of boxing for over 30 years, and I'm very aware of Cole, but this is bigger than Cole simply because he has a history of controversial refereeing, and yet he's still refereeing fights!

His daddy is on the Texas State Athletic Commission or something like that.

It is just a case of his incompetence. Nothing more.

It isn't the first fight that a ref has been oblivious.

It is not as bad as any number of Abner Mares fights were reffed, and all in his overwhelming favor, I may add.

I couldn't have said it better myself. However I do think Salido did win, but if Lawrence Cole deducts points or even warns Salido of the constant fouling, Salido probably loses by disqualification or on the cards if he didn't bring them up.

WBO featherweight rankings as of Feb. 15th:
    1.Gary Russel Jr
    2.Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo
    3.Kamil Laszczyk
    4.Joel Brunker
    5.Vasyl Lomachenko

#'s 1-4 got screwed out of the chance to fight a welterweight for a vacant 126lb title.

    @Nonito Smoak

That was worse than any Abner Mares fight that I've ever seen, and if Cole's father is on the Texas State Athletic Comission, this only adds to my belief, that Lomachenko was dealt a cold dose of reality about a sport I'm sure he loves. Boxing is as much about politics, as it is sport.

There was definitely a few too many low blows. But Loma was holding everytime Salido got in close too. Salido won. Loma got beat. He'll come back better because of it.
