Lomachenko put on a masterclass

Let me start off by saying that i work in a hotel where i am always put on a finish. ALWAYS

These shifts can run up to 6am so catching the boxing in the UK is impossible and as for the US i have to rush to get back in time to catch the main event but tonight just so happened to be a boxing themed wedding that had ATGs like Ali, Frazier and of course Tobias Webb as table names ( i should note Tobias Webb was there )

anyways i finish my shift around 3.50 am and ran home in time for the 10th round of Alexander/Karass to which i saw a bit of a war break out but apparently Alexander dominated the fight . . . . . will have to watch the replay

Then i am treated to the Lomachenko fight where I was nervous because despite his impresive amateur record and losing effort against a 147 pound low blowing Salido there was little known about how good Loma was . . . .he proved it tonight

You can say Russel is a hypejob who lost the moment he stepped up in competition and i could agree although that would be a bit harsh considering his obvious talent and athleticism and he did make Lomachenko work for the win but seeing those body shots, the lateral movement and even knowing when to back off and cover up just shows how much class Vasyl has not to mention the little dirty tactic he learned from Salido

needless to say though Russell was gracious in defeat and hope he can come back, boxing needs more honest fighters like himself and a big congrats to the new WBO champion. God knows hes earned it.

As for the weight issue ive been a bit out of touch due to working 12-15 hour shifts so fill me in on how much both fighters weighed in on fight night?

Finally if you saw the power Russell was putting on his punches i seriously doubt theyd be hurting Lomachenko, Russell works off speed . . . not the hard shots Lomachenko was throwing so as for a rematch? no way

I was struggling to find rounds to give to Russell purely due to his ineffectiveness and how sloppy those punches were. Russell needs to go back to the drawing board like he said and learn to start covering up the body and turning his punches over because Vasyl laid out the blueprint on how to beat him tonight

Im very aware he still has room for development and even I was critical in his pro debut where i felt his defense was a little leaky and he was allowing himself to be hit by Ramirez . . . . . tonight he covered up beautifully and backed off when he needed to and came on strong in the second half of each round.

Im no nutthugger, im just a big fan of the sport and hopefully start back in the gym soon so when I see someone execute a game plan like Loma did tonight i have to show appreciation. A couple more fights under his belt and he is on his way to do great things and no disrespect to Russell, he showed some skills and some heart (and some distasteful low blows in the 12th) so heres hoping he can come back strong aswell, its always good to see someone humble in defeat
