Lomachenko put on a masterclass

You have to be joking, Russell jr got schooled, didn't land more than 9 punches in any single round, that is a fact. 118-110 lomachencko.

It wasn't even close. It was CLEAR AS DAY. Karass/Alexander was closer.

 

This fight could have wen scored 120-108 and it would have been fair,

Grunting and swinging at air might be good for tennis but not in boxing

 

Russell got outclassed and i'm a Russell fan.

 

Well.....a single Loma combination per rd was more effective than the shadow boxing GRJ engaged in last night.

 

What's scary is that Russell got outclassed, but it's not because he fought poorly. Coming in with the gameplan to win on handspeed and volume was his best chance for victory, but there's only so much you can do when you can't land on the guy and you can't throw nonstop every second of every round.

 

I do think in this fight Lomachenko still showed flaws that caused him to lose to Salido though.

When he is backed up he doesn't let his hands go but focuses on defence. This is how Salido had success pushing Lomachenko to box of the back foot.

On the front foot he demonstrates an amazing skill level.

 

SMH! Some of these posts are unbelievable. Pep or Saddler wouldn't have lost to Salido.

 

i wouldn't call it a masterclass. lama definitely won, grj has no power and lama is the naturally bigger stronger guy, lama should have been able to knock him out. i gave grj 4 rounds. lama will most likely be one of the top fighters in his division but i don't think he will wipe everyone out, i see a lot of tough fights and losses in his future.

 

And you falsely believe that Hi-tech lost vs Salido? He was robbed dude.. Pep and Sadler were robbed before

 

I was impressed. He neutralised Russell's hand-speed very well with his movement and landed all the telling shots. He really gave him that work when he went to the body.

He's come on strong at the end of his last two fights as well. He's probably still learning how to pace himself so he can slightly increase his work-rate in some of the earlier rounds.

Russell is a talented fighter, so I rate this win highly. I'm interested in seeing what Loma does next.

 

They were the same weight. It showed in the stats.

As he levels out his pacing, he's going to be a very, very tough fighter to beat. It's rare to see a fresh pro maintain the level of defense he does, but he's got some room to increase his offensive output without compromising the D.

I've got no doubts he'll continue to make progress there. He was better in every facet of his game last night than against Salido.

 

Loma clearly outpointed GRJ, but he needs to finish fighters who are there to be finished, especially fighters who don't possess power in their punches. I hope he adjusts this aspect of his game soon. But I do believe he'll do great things in the next few years.

 

That is not Lomachenko's fault or problem. Not until they go back to same day weigh-ins will this be rectified.

As to this being a very close fight, you have to be blind or willfully ignorant. Lomachenko could only have dominated this fight more by stopping Russell. Lomachenko beat Russell silly for 12 rounds. Not even close. A virtual shutout where Russell could have been given 2 rounds at the most, if you were feeling generous. Calling this a close fight is absurd.
