We rarely see this level of ability. Lomachenko looks a sure thing to enter the ranks left by Roy Jones as well as the Greats at 130, Floyd and Manny. Lomachenko should be FOTY because: 1. He not just beat a pretty consistent titleholder in Rocky Martinez, but dominated him and brutally knocked him out in one of the best performances you'll ever see, to secure a piece of history - becoming a 2 weight world champion within 7 professional fights. 2. Psychologically KO'd an elite fighter in Nicholas Walters who was closing in on P4P. Lomachenko took away every single punch from Walters until Walters felt paralytic. Walters was about to get KO'd in the next round, Loma was ready to say goodbye to Felicia but Felicia left on her own accord. 3. Being at least P4P no.4 after this fight. Last year he wasn't in it at all. Ward is not FOTY IMO because the majority of knowledgable people felt Kovalev beat him. Sullivan Barrera is also not established. Crawford beat Postol, but I rated Walters above Postol, and Rocky is better than Lundy and I don't really rate Molina which is more of a keep busy fight, and Vasyl's wins had historical significance. He has around 3 years aka 9 fights left of his prime. Quite startling is the fact that people are forgetting the Featherweights and Super Featherweights, and are pushing Lomachenko to the likes of Crawford, Pacquiao and Mikey Garcia. Vasyl only moved up to 130 because he was being ducked by everyone and he's in the thirstiest quest for Greatness in the game. He came in on fight night at 136lbs and looked pretty hydrated at the weigh in. He's not going to be able to 'grow into' multiple weight classes at his age. Why can't Lomachenko just stay put at 130 and become the GOAT at 130 first? Let's see him fight Vargas, Salido, Corrales and Gamboa. Why does he need to go to 135 where he has a small frame? Why does he need to consider fighting Pac at 140? He would whoop them but that's not the point. Sidenote: I suspect we'll get a super fight in around 3-4 years with Shakur Stevenson vs Vasyl Lomachenko when Loma's on the downslide and having to be more of a defensive fighter (Floyd won't have him fight Loma any time soon, nor will Stevenson be fast tracked). Stevenson is turning pro at 126lbs and will grow into the higher weight classes.
