Top 10 at 130 with a record of four glorified, washed-up clubfighters, a 40-y/o moving up two weight classes, and a guy who took a dive? Yeah maybe. Brian Mitchell holds the record for the most consecutive title defenses at this division, with 12 defenses of the WBA title (1986 – 1991). Other notable fighters to hold championship titles at this weight include Arturo Gatti, Vasyl Lomachenko, Flash Elorde, Alexis Argüello, Azumah Nelson, Julio César Chávez, Diego Corrales, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Érik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Acelino Freitas, Juan Manuel Márquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Rocky Lockridge, and Manny Pacquiao. Which one of those guys oes he beat? Gatti, Lockridge, Corrales, Barrera. Which ones does he MAYBE beat; Marquez, Mitchell, Freitas, Nelson. Which one's splatter him? DLH, Chavez, and Pacquaio. I guess you can make a case.
It’s an interesting point, but I think Loma was only at 130 for five fights. Out of 12 so far. So he didn’t spend the majority of his career there either. Rocky had like 10 title fights at that weight and between 15 and 20 fights overall — a few soft touches mixed in but also non-title bouts with the likes of Boza-Edwards. I just can’t see a guy who barely had a cup of coffee at 130 and who didn’t even come close to cleaning out the division or fighting the top people there as an ATG. He looks good H2H, but who has he really fought at 130 that you could compare to some of the better fighters who have fought in the division to tell?
