Pac wouldn't be the best name on his resume? Alongside the exposure and money?

Actually, Lomachenko gave an interview several days ago (it's not in English)
    This content is protected

where he explained it quite in detail:

"...Well, I can tell you my point of view. As a matter of fact, when they had offered me this fight, I was excited, I was interested. Because he (Pacquiao) is a legend and a top fighter. The main question was which weight category would we fight at? Pacquiao now fights at 147, I am only trying to move up to 135. So, if I climb at once to 147 or even to 140 it would be absolutely unreasonable and even illogical just from a physiological point of view. So, as if of today, as for this 2018 year… I will not accept this fight. Later, let’s say in a year, if this fight will still be relevant… No matter how I fight it, they will say something like “Oh, so what, he’s fighting an old man!” That is, I would be in a lose-lose situation once again.
    ..."

    So, the key points are:
    a) I need a year to gain weight to fight even at 140;
    b) in a year MP will be even older.

He'd get credit. Pac schooled Bradley the last time he fought someone his size. It's a dangerous fight for Lomachenko, but not unwinnable.

I'm kind of disappointed in Lomachenko, to be honest...

There's no size advantage and here's WHY:
    • Pac could be drained to death at 140
    • Loma is taller
    • Loma is younger, faster, smarter, better defensively
    • Pac is old, shot, and hasn't fought at 140 in close to a decade
    • Pac will weigh in at 140 and rehydrate to 144-146
    • Loma will weigh in at 135-139 and rehydrate to 142-144
For these reasons, the size advantage is completely negated.

I don't think anyone will discredit Loma if Loma embarrasses and stops Pacquiao. And if they do, so what? The positive gains are worth it --- highest pay day, highest level of exposure, passing of the torch, and it's a certified ATG on his resume.

Again, later (in this interview) he made a slip that it was his dad's decision not to fight Pac. Well, let's say his dad was able to convince Vasiliy not to fight MP...

I'm not sure I understand (find it logical) their position as well...
But, actually, it will depend a lot whom Loma will fight this year. He said (in this video) that he's in fact done with the super featherweight (disappointed at being unable to unify but sees no point at staying there) and is moving up for sure.
He personally would like to fight Robert Easter Jr. first. :crazylick:

there is a possibility loma will get ko'ed and it will terribly affect his future. pac still has power and hits from awkward angles.

In hindsight it may not have been a bad fight for Lomachenko. A BIG payday, and I'd favour him to win this. Yeah, he may not get the credit for beating a prime Pac but still, it's Pacman and even an old Pacman is dangerous. It would have raised his profile a lot. From Pac's perspective, probably not a good fight to take. Loma could make him look foolish.

Well I sure hope not with a 10 year age advantage and the same height and reach. When Manny was the same age as Lomachenko he was the same weight as well, fighting as a SPR-FTHWT. There's no real difference between them, they probably walk around at about 145 vs. 155 now.

Chenko seems to be the most honest of anyone about his career. He has reached a point where he needs to TELL Uncle Bobby who he is going to fight, not ask.

You know the rules. If Lomachenko does it, it's beyond any and all reproach.

And if he took the fight you would bash him for fighting old and shot fighters like you did after the Rigondeaux fight.

"Bash" is a bit hyperbolic, no? I rather matter-of-factly repeated the same things I said before the fight, i.e. that Rigo was small, old, inactive and the only one with much credit to gain from a W in that matchup.

I've already said, re. this fight - while I wouldn't go OTT with the acclaim if Loma beat Manny, it would be the most creditable feat of his career thus far (provided it's no lower than 140).

No it wouldn't be at all. Then the detractors would say Loma beat Jeff Horn's leftover. Pac is shot now.

The 1.5 seconds you saved typing it like that versus the 5 seconds it took me to work out it wasn't a huge acronym. Hmmm.

I'd put it above beating GRJ at 126. I can't speak for anyone else.

Horn is a big welter, and, while he had a legit case for outpointing Manny, he didn't beat him well enough for anyone to say that Manny is his leftovers without dumping their credibility in the crapper. Heck, I tend to think Manny would have tweaked things and won a rematch (a Robinson-Turpin type situation) if there'd been one.
