So? He was never hurt? Ward was knocked down by Boone but Froch and Kessler couldn't put a dent in him, is Boone a better fighter than them two?
wards 7th fight? 2 totally different situations. he is just using available evidence, just like you do when outlining what loma has done that proves he will beat mikey.
What has Mikey done that proves he beats Loma? Mikey is slow, his footwork is basic, his punches are great but basic, his technique is basic, there is nothing awkward or unusual about Mikey, Lomachenko feeds on guys like him, he fought at least 100 Basic boxers in amateurs so he will toy with Mikey for 12 rounds, Mikey struggled with Lipinets for Gods sake, he beat nobody above B level. The only hope Mikey has is to land a lucky shot on Loma, think about it logically, much faster boxer, with better reflexes, better footwork, better jab, better defense... Honestly this will be very similar to Gassiev vs Usyk, maybe not as one sided but Mikey will be hitting thin air all night
That's what I find so perplexing w/ everyone's love affair w/ Mikey. Dude is very good, but very basic. Decent resume, not great.
doesnt sound like you understand boxing at all. what you call basic is proper technique having been distilled to its most essential elements. you think loma is the first guy to bring his own flavor to the ring? there is a reason certain moves keep getting taught and retaught to all the aspiring boxers, because that is the most effective way to do it, by trimming all the unnecessary fat from it to get to only whats needed. mikey is a master at doing just that. loma is great, but i bet if he taught his son to do what he does and mikey taught his own son, mikeys son would beat the crap out of lomas kid.
What's wrong w/ saying Mikey is basic? He's the definition of basic — textbook technique up and down, no special effects. Very high level of basic, though. Mikey brings no x-factor to the table like athleticism, elite speed, concussive power, or elite defense. Most of the truly elite fighters bring the crazy — angles, combination, speed, athleticism (Pac), watertight defense (Floyd), unreal timing and combination punching (JMM), or obscene footwork/angles (Loma). Lipinents, Broner, and Easter all had Mikey leaking from the nose. Lipinents pushed it off to the center by a couple of inches. Lomachenko will process the data in a couple of rounds and then proceed to school Mikey.
My point is being basic won't beat Loma, he will read every punch that Mikey throws, you can have perfect technique and basics and you will whoop 90% of boxers as Mikey has done, but one you come in against a master boxer who fought better basic boxers than Mikey in amateurs, there is nothing that can surprise Loma. I am well aware of Mikeys excellent basics and technique but this isn't the style that can beat Loma, you need to have more reach, you need speed, fast feet and unorthodox style to have a chance of beating Loma. Mikey can't outbox Loma, his only chance is landing on the inside when Loma gets overconfident.
i know you dont understand boxing, and the pride you feel over that is amusing. those that know better read your posts and understand that youre just like 90% of posters on here who dont really understand boxing, they just know they like some of the guys wearing gloves because they look cooler doing what they do. i used to see the exact same lack of understanding 10 years ago when i would say that tim duncan, the poster boy for basic, would one day be the greatest power forward ever to step on a court.
that right there is a perfect indication of where you and guys like tomato are at. i really dont need to add anything to this.
Tell us why you think Mikey is this P4P monster. And please shed some light on how Mikey is anything beyond being very good at being basic.
What's wrong with this statement? Being a better boxer doesn't correlate with being a better fighter, Mikey is a better fighter than anyone Loma has ever fought but not a better boxer
thats just it, special effects are just to make those like you all wet, it doesnt translate into the ring at all. the best ways to do something in boxing have all pretty much been established with maybe slight room for personal improvement, depending on your own personal strengths. the rest is just eliminating unrequired movement, transition between movements and managing energy reserves. there are no great mysteries left in boxing.
Doesn't really work that way though, Mike got dropped by Roman Martin and Loma made much easier work out of Martinez without being hurt at all but that doesn't make him better either. It's a great fight but I just don't see it happening soon.
ok, ill play. give me a name of one of these great amateurs that are better boxers than mikey, so i can look him up and tell you specifically where your train went off the tracks.
How do you figure special effects don't transfer into the ring? 90% of Pacquiao's success has been due to his freakish speed and freakish angles. Lomachenko's balletic footwork and odd angles are major reasons why he can toy w/ and dominate his opponents. Mikey is basic and that is why guys like Lipinets, Broner, and Easter were able to have a lot of success when they decided to trade w/ him.
