Haney's length, handspeed and distance-controlling jab will make life difficult for Loma, particularly early in the fight. Nevertheless, Haney doesn't possess the kind of power that would discourage Loma from closing the distance (and I believe he still has the legs/quickness to do it) and operating at mid range, where he can land and do damage. Moreover, while not basic per say, Haney's offense is relatively straightforward. Consequently, I believe Loma will process Haney by the middle rounds and earn a competitive decision victory.
I agree with this, I understand why the majority favor Loma but Haney has the length and a very good jab and he's a fine boxer. Could Loma win? of course but it won't be as easy as some think. With good odds I'd place a bet on Haney
If Haney can wait just 6 more years till Loma turns 40, then yes, Haney has a chance to last 12 rounds. Short of that it's Loma by KO that is if Haney can still make weight.
4-5 years ago, Loma whoops today's version of Haney. Now, I believe Loma has slipped enough so the fight isn't a complete blow out. Haney has enough tools to keep the fight competitive but Loma is still highly skilled and instead of a 10-2, 11-1 type fight, it may be a 8-4, 7-5. Still a Loma victory.
Loma is very hungry as we saw in the last two fights. I question Haneys heart, So I think Haney can quit in the middle of the fight, when Loma outbox and hurts him.
I envision a 115-113 type decision for Loma as well. Nor would a split decision necessarily surprise me. Loma has a more layered game and that, along with a significant edge in experience, will ultimately be the difference. In any event, this projects to be a very technical, highly skilled affair between two first class operators.
Loma by UD with one or more KD's. Haney's style especially with no power doesn't work with the southpaw likes of Loma and Pacquiao.
I would want Lomachenko to win but at 135 Haney would be too big for him. He’d use his jab well and win a boring points decision. I’d rather see Lomachenko and Stevenson fight at 130 instead.
Loma would beat the utter brains out of Haney. He wins any way he wants Haney has no power to even make him think twice
I suspect Loma stops him. Loma doesn't like powerful counterpunching, Haney has no power and he counters a little bit but not in the style that would make Loma hesitate. Haney would be competing on boxing skill, and that's ground where Loma holds all the cards. Where would Haney have seen anything like Loma, since he went pro at 17? That's great experience to learn how to pick apart punchers, but you don't see guys like Loma among Mexican journeymen.
Pick em fight with a slight lean to loma. Haney is long athletic has an elite level jab and can box. If he had more power I wouldn't hesitate to pick Haney here.
