that perception will change with mikeys next fight. most people dksab, so they are going to read something into the spence fight that just isnt there. when mikey gets right back on track, all these people claiming what a horrible showing and how mikey will never be the same, will act like nothing of the kind was ever said.
Of course he was. He was just completely over matched by Spence. Don't know why that is hard to accept. Everyone said from the beginning of this fight being signed that Mikey stood little chance. And that's simply what happened..
of course he tried to win, this isnt wwf. the size was just too great. the only advantage mikey had was in midrange, where he can be in a position to counter. but spence took that range from him. every time mikey shuffled forward, spence shuffled backwards to maintain the distance he wanted, where mikey could not time him but had to beat him with speed, which he couldnt. if spence were not as as fast, and didnt have as good footwork as mikey, when mikey shuffled forward, he could beat spence before spence shuffled back. but mikey is not faster. or he could just add distance to his forward steps, if spence wasnt also longer and covered more ground. mikey could have danced around the ring and avoided punishment, like he did with salido. mikey has brilliant lateral movement, when he wants to use it. instead, he stayed in the pocket catching everything spence was throwing at him, in the hopes of timing a counter that would hurt spence. mikey was the one pursuing and moving forward for much of the fight, he wasnt there for an easy night.
Nice post. Couldn't believe the crap here after that fight. "He only showed for a payday....", "He threw the fight..."
